First time I've used anything but Vallejo and craft paints. I bought a jar of Citadel because I'm out of town and the only store in town doesn't carry Vallejo. I thought it felt funny when I was shaking it up. When I opened it, there was a big glob of congealed paint in the middle of the jar. Four days later, the glob has grown substantially and it seems like there is little viable paint left already. Is this typical of Citadel?

I don't buy citadel often anymore but I never bought one like that. You got an old pot or it was cracked. I would return it.

Was it one of their "Dry" paints these are used for dry brushing and are made to be as you described.

When they were in the old pots they dried out pretty quickly. With the new pop open lids I don't have many problems with them.

You stir them – use the end of your brush or a cocktail stick, peice of sprue… anything. To my mind this is a serious advantage over Vallejo – you can shake till your wrists break but you still don't get as even a colour as just giving it a stir.

Which paint was it? As was said above if it's one of the "dry" paints then it is natural, but if not it is a sign that your pot had been opened previously, before purchase, and has started to cure in the pot. The best way to deal with it is with a drop of matt medium and a lot of stirring and shaking.

It says "Citadel Base Ceramite White".

If you successfully resurrect it, use it quickly before it dies again.
