I recently found out that during Napoleon's stay in Poland during the 1807 campaign, two short lived cerimonial Honor Guard units were created to Escort him, the first one in Posen and the other in Warsaw for his entry in the city. Does anyone knows anything about the uniforms of those units?

Just happened to be reading 'Orphan Eagles' and I didn't see any mention to those units in that text. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you.

I am not certain about this but I think the Honour Guard may have come from the Noble Levy called up by General Dabrowski. If this is the case, the uniforms would have varied according to which province or palatinate the member hailed from but basically would have consisted of a konfederatka (a soft, padded, four-cornered hat), a kurtka-type jacket and overall trousers the same colour as the coat.

If you need more details W. J. Rawkins' 'The Army of the Duchy of Warsaw 1807 – 1814' (from which I have lifted this information) is an excellent resource and remarkably inexpensive: link

However, I should stress that I don't think Rawkins specifically states that the Noble Levy formed the Honour Guard and it could be that I have got the wrong end of the stick.

These books look like they will give you a definitive answer: auction
They're not cheap but they do specifically cover the Honour Guard.

I have the entire series and they are well worth the price.

Thank you very much guys! That was helpful!

Also, does anyone have any information about the Honor Guard of Posen/Posznam? I once found on Google books a mention about the women of the city sewing the uniforms of thag unit, but I don't know if its accurate and the text didn't say anything else about their dress.
