Thanks to everyone who played in my "Hammer of the Scots" game at Historicon. It was a great group of guys which made the experience even better. The scenario was a what if from 1298 where Wallace chose to not fight at Falkirk, but to continue to play cat and mouse with the English for most of the summer. The frustrated English finally bring the Scots to battle and the nobles are way too eager to attack. I set it up so that the English would have to try and control their over-eager knights and get their missile troops into the fight. If they were able to do that, the Scottish players had to decide when to come off the hill, because to stay up there would mean destruction by bow fire. As the game played out, the Scots won a narrow victory (mostly to the capture of the Earl of Surrey on the English right flank). Rules used were my "Vows of Iron" which were just recently released. Here are a few photos.

I played in the game as one of the English players. Allen did a great job of getting everyone into the action early. The rules were easy to pick up and made for a great game. The game uses "special dice" which I know some people don't like, but the way they work in the rules flowed very well. I hope he will be running more games with these rules in the future, I'll be looking for them.

Also played in the game but on the victorious Scots side. Truly enjoyed the game.

Well done Allen
