I am seriously considering getting into "Geezers" and its American and world derivates. I am familiar with TV shows of the seventies, the movie, both British and American. Can you recommend any fiction? I guess Ed McBain's 87th precinct stories would quqlify?

You could try "Horse's Arse", "Foxtrot Oscar", "Bravo Jubilee" and "Two Tribes" all by Charlie Owen; about a Police Station in the fictitious new town of Handstead during the 1970s in the UK.

Thanks. It seems a treat. My public library has all three books. Great. I'm set for the rest of summer.

Life on Mars BBC TV series.

Hi Nevals, I wrote Geezers and would second the Charlie Owen books, They're lots of fun. Also I would recommend 'The Choir Boys' by Joseph Wambaugh and the books 'The Real Sweeney' and 'You're Knicked!' by Dick Kirby. There is a third by Kirby called 'Rough Justice' but it doesn't appear to be on Amazon.
Whilst these are non-fiction they are written in 'bite sized' chapters detailing the Flying Squad's real life 1970s adventures. (Also Dick Kirby clearly thinks he was the greatest police officer ever which comes across in his writing.)

Thank you, Scrap and Gamma. My daughter is a fan of Life on Mars. Captain Gamma, thanks for the tip on Kirby's book. I like this kind of stuff. By the way,I heard all the best about your rules. The guy I met once told me he was making a paper figures-cops, gangsters, politicians, used die cast cars and planned to create the whole RPG universe for his personal use, with high rolling crime lords, Mossad agents, terrorists, all based on Geezers. I was idiot not to take his email or phone to check on him.

Rivers of London/Midnight Riot (same book).

Left field, I know.

McWong73, I actually own Rivers of London. Bought it a year ago and forgot about it. The thing is that I read mostly Fantasy and SF and know very little about detective/police pieces.
Thanks for reminding me.
