I noticed that often the uniforms of buglers and to some degree drummers are painted in different colors then what they are supposed to be. For example :

K&C paints the bugler of the 6th Reg. Cuirassiers yellow when it is shown on this very good site that the uniform is green:

I'm just wondering if this is totally incorrect or am i missing something? It looks really good but if the uniform is totally invented i prefer keeping it historically accurate.

The print with the green uniform with the fancy lace was the new Imperial Livery that took effect I believe in 1812. Prior to that The figure in yellow is correct for that regiment. Musicians traditionally wore reversed colors. I.E. yellow facings for troopers yellow coat for the trumpeter.

The difference is that from 1812 onward Napoleon directed that buglers and drummers should wear imperial livery (green coats with yellow stripes as shown in your examples). Prior to this the uniform was left more to the colonel, although reversed colors was more the norm (as shown in your links).

That makes sense, i couldn't imagine K&C making up uniforms:) Thanks for the info & the links guys!
