As you may have seen from the gallery, I'm planning a NWF campaign for the 1890s, so the British will have Lee Metfords, Maxims and Screw guns. Is this a bit too advanced for Sharp Practice 2? There will be something like 30 British and 80 Pathans per side til the large battle at the end. I like the Sharp Practice system of play, thoughts anyone?

No. Or not without strong mods.
The author said so, and that they might in the future redo a version for later periods.
You might also need non European/ logic ways for the non colonial opposition.

Did a Mutiny game with it the other night. It works fine with a few tweaks. Depends how pedantic you are.

Of course it can but it is likely to be pretty one sided.

Thought that may be the case, I'll get it anyway and see if I can tinker with it. Any other suggestions for good rules that cover the style of game I'm after, or should I just write my own.

Speak to Richard. He's working on a colonial version of the rules. He's normally very helpful.

As written, the rules stop before magazine rifles and machine guns and work really well with colonial campaigns before those weapons became common. As already stated, Richard is working on a colonial version which will address these issues and extend the rules both in time and geography.

I had hoped to get started next week, might have to delay a bit now.

I am endeavouring to do just this.
Early results are good.
Just don't use an action to reload British rifles.
Trick is getting the Pathans right. Got an idea to field them as an entire army of skirmishers.

Outstanding James, love your blog and especially your NWF stuff. Keep us informed of more developments. Do I use the Maxim or not?

Bishi-bashi-bumhamdi! Captain Foxweasel, cracker of a start, Wot! Richard and the geniuses at 2FL have crafted a exciting 2nd ed of the rules and your game is a right shiner too. I'm sure the 2FLs will bring out supplements forthwith. I want to Do AngloZulus soon.

Of course it can but it is likely to be pretty one sided.

Most of the battles between Brits with magazine rifles and Pathans were pretty one-sided. Favoring the Brits unless you have enough Pathans to get into melee, and then the advantage swings to the Pathans.
