Ah, it's only us Napoleoic war nuts who seem to care. Mentioned it on another site and nothing. For Liberty, Equality and Fraternity! but mostly liberty. |

The large box truck drove into the crowd at the Promenade des Anglais, witnesses said. The former mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who is now a regional official, said there "appeared to be dozens of deaths," said NBC News. In French, Estrosi Tweeted, according to NBC: "Dear Nice, the driver of a truck appears to have made dozens of deaths. Stay for the moment to your home. More info to come." Reports are still unfolding, but ISIS is already posting photographs of the attack. Accounts are unfolding fast and disseminating over social media; details could change as more is known. Bastille Day is France's national holiday, honoring the storming of the Bastille prison in the 1789 French Revolution. Liberty, Equality and Fraternity – allways! |

My sympathies to the French that their national Day should be so tragically diminished. Vive la France! |

How sad that such a great historical event and a happy day for France should be attacked this way, with so many people suffering. As some have suggested, I doubt this will be the last, there or at other locations. Commiserations to our French comrades and I only wish we could offer more support. |

+1 to all the well wishers on this tragic news days. Sadly, while we can just play, other people want to continue to kill for real. |
