All, You may have seen I've played three fights using Royal Marines in Afghanistan; so far I've been using insurgent figures by Rebel Minis. Now, those are good looking troops, but they don't fit Afghanistan as well as they could, looking much more suitable for Iraq, Syria, Libya, etc… Quite some time ago I had purchased some 15mm Taliban from Flytrap Factory (at the same time I bought some USMC and Royal Marines), but for some reason I hadn't painted them up. So, spurned on by a fellow wargamer, my Royal Marine campaign took a breather last weekend while I did some painting. These are for you, Mr. Robertson ;)
The whole force, ten troops in five poses. The figures are really well done; great heft to them, weapons clearly done (though the AKs do look a little like Stg-44s/MP-43s to me), and the facial features and clothing look perfect for the subject matter. I only wish there were more of them, ten is kind of a small pack. But they look great and were easy to paint up. Having said that, I hate painting irregulars, trying to come up with realistic color combinations that aren't too flamboyant but don't just wash out. I'm very happy with how these turned out. To see a bunch of closeups, and some other odds and ends I worked on, please check the blog at: link Well, that's it for now. The weekend is fast approaching and the boy is already bothering me to play, so stay tuned, we'll definitely be getting some games in. V/R, Jack |

Hi Jack Looking great mate. This pack was purely a scenario pack for the Skirmish Sangin missions hence only ten figs in the pack (along with ten US troops and hummers). The rest of our Taliban range can be found here…over 40 different sculpts spread across multiple packs…all the same design and heft(slightly larger than the OG models). All sculpted by the same person. link |

EBT – I was able to pick up a pack of the Marine Hoots from Scale Creep, but I cannot find out any info about them on the FF website…am I missing something obvious? |

Hi Darryl Our full range of Warfighter codes can be found in our webstore. The 'Hoots' Marine pack has been discontinued… it was one of our earliest releases. Though in saying that people can order it off us by simply flicking through an email expression of interest. Thanks |

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. And forgive me Baron, you're exactly right! I recall now that these Taliban were part of the scenario pack (with USMC and three HMMVs) I bought directly from you. What's Marine Hoots? V/R, Jack |

I would love to see a Flytrap picture of the hoots to give me an idea of what makes up the pack, unless you can give me a written description. |

Darryl, I don't understand; I thought you said you bought a pack of the Marine Hoots from Scale Creep? And did you see the ARVN I painted and posted? I put in for an account with Fields of Fire several days ago but haven't heard anything back. V/R, Jack |

Hey Gents Hoots was a USMC character blister I trialed with a character bust incl in the pack right back at the beginning when we were trialing a new method of representing your character figures on the tt. Its a funny coincidence, but Flashpoint Miniatures and its vietnam line was my first company I started back in the day, I later sold it to friends in Australia and a couple of years later Flytrap was born… go figure :) Anton |

In other words I think your work is great Jack ;) |

I do have a pack of the Hoots from SC. But, I would like to to see what FF had in terms of a picture to ID the figures perhaps a bit. And the Fields of Fire forum is not something I host, just a part of. The organizer checks in every few days so I am sure your request will be approved soon! Welcome! |

Baron – Thanks a bunch, glad you like them, and that's very interesting, I had no idea you started with Flashpoint. Jimmi is a great guy! I hope you've seen my "Royals in Helmand" batreps; #1-3 had your Royal Marines vs Rebel Minis insurgents, but now these are done they'll be your Royal Marines vs your Taliban ;) And I just visited your website, I'm trying to resist the Scenario #5 pack… Darryl – I guess I don't understand the Hoots. I beg your patience, I'm not trying to be a wise-ass, but it sounds like you're saying you need a picture to identify the figures you bought. What am I missing? Sorry man, I don't get it. And still waiting on FoF forum… V/R, Jack |
