For those not on Facebook and The Guild, figured I'd post the vague news on what's in the pipeline for the Battlegroup series… Firstly the vehicle cards and a large format rulebook are due for printing (a sign of an ageing hobby when the mini rulebook is too hard to read! Me included!). The rules stay the same in the large format book, but their will be a new Normandy campaign and a couple of army lists, plus all the generic scenarios, to help new players. We need more rulebooks and figured this time to do a large format one to make it easy on the eyes! After that it's the first Desert War book, covering Crete and the first half of the Desert War in North Africa. This will be one of the bigger hardback books in the usual format. Looking longer down the dirty pipeline of production… We have two smaller campaign books in development, following the style of Wacht am Rhein released earlier this year. One is covering Budapest and one is looking at the Liberation of Holland. And finally at the end of the pipe is my start on stuff for an eventual book looking at the war in Burma! Hopefully all will come to fruition but things may change, though the cards, rulebook and Desert book are all fixed as the next wave of releases. I'm also still working on a Cold War version but won't be much on that till I'm happy with it… I'm off to carry on recovering from the Battlegroup Overlord campaign weekend at Bovington last week! |

Piers -- what will be covered in first Desert War book? Through Operation Crusader (end of 1941)? Through El Alamein (end of 1942; Torch and Tunisia in second book)? Thanks |

Really pleased to hear about Burma but pleeeaasse don't go down the sterotypical and highly inaccurate Banzai charge giving superhuman abilities route. |

@Schogun Yer… pretty much as you describe really. Cut off around El Alamein. @Nick B Dont think you need worry too much… ;) In fact Im starting Burma now as we want it in testing for a long time as we want to get Burma, and Pacific, to have the right 'feel'. Very different to the usual eurocentric warfare we have covered so far. |

Hey, did you forget to place the Canadian campaign book in the list? That's one I REALLY want (although I'm buying everything, of course). |

The Canadian campaign for Normandy is going in the large format rulebook. Not big enough to print on its own. |

I've long admired these rules on your Facebook page but its going to be years before I can get my 20mm figures painted so. Could you use these rules for 28mm? |
45thdiv | 07 Jul 2016 6:42 p.m. PST |
I think the rules can be used for 28mm with no issues. |

I don't have facebook, so I am happy to have your updates here. Looking forward when the large book and cards to be released. |

Hey Piers Is the Wacht am Rheim campaign book available in PDF only or do you have to buy the hard copy to get the PDF? Thanks |

Do you have any plans for pdf versions of campaign books? Kursk and main rules are available as pdf, but any others? |
PiersBrand | 09 Jul 2016 8:15 a.m. PST |
They go to PDF as the hard copies sell out. |

Hi I don't want to hijack the thread but I've been doing alot of research on which WWII wargame rules to try and Battlegroup is top of the list! How do I start? I'd like book format not pdf but Battlegroup Kursk seems to be out of print? Me and the guys are primarily interested in Eastern front and Overlord and beyond gaming. Any advice would be much appreciated :-) |
PiersBrand | 10 Jul 2016 3:32 a.m. PST |
Well the rules are all in the mini rulebook, same as Kursk. If you are after Overlord then PSC have a few copies left and they do a deal with Overlord and the rulebook. Kursk is out of print at the moment, as it was first, and that has the German and Soviet lists for Kursk as well as the core rules. However, you could use Fall of the Reich to do late war Eastern Front. |

Thanks Piers, I just got the mini rules, overlord and battle of the bulge books can't wait to get my hands on them and see what the game is like :-) hopefully I'll be able to get hold of the kursk book at some point :-) |
