Is there any sort of standardized (or generally used) scoring system for DBA tournaments? I'm trying to help some guys get a tournament organized.

Thanks,

Here is the method adopted by NASAMW for scoring DBA tourneys

Thanks Chris.

Is NASAMW even still around and is anyone using this method?

It is still a good system, whether it is being used by NASAMW or not :)

By the way, the best scoring system is number of wins. I count number of wins to determine winner. Next is winning head to head. Only if there is a tie do I apply the detailed scoring.

At the last tournament I ran, we went 4 rounds swiss chess, with 3 points for win, 1 for tie, and 0 for loss. We played 60minute games so only 2 games tied, 4 players. Gave a good clear cut ranking for 12 players.

What is GCC?

GCC is the Gulf Coast Championship. We have a tournament circuit that currently stretches from Alabama to Louisiana. At one time we held tournaments in Georgia, Florida, Texas and Oklahoma as well. We culminate our circuit at Bayou Wars every June and name our season champion.

I like Bob's method and will use at Historicon with the old Nasamw used for tie break.
