Hello all, I would like to ask what make of superglue you use. I use Loctite Super Attak. This is a very good glue in itself & I use it a lot in my builds BUT the main problem is the plastic bottle's nozzle. The thin nozzle becomes clogged quickly , eventually breaks off since one has to remove the clogging & one ends up wasting glue ( as the glue dries up/clogs even when capped). I have read in other posts that most prefer Loctite instant gel mainly but my main issue is the nozzle not the glue. Any suggestions? Thanks Z |

I use brush-on superglue and never had it gum up. In fact I normally get to use it until the bottle runs completely dry. |

I use Gorilla Superglue in the little tubes. I try to store it upright, so the glue naturally drains from the nozzle and have never had a problem with clogging, |

I use a pin to clear the nozzle when it clogs up. |

Loctite gel. Never had a nozzle clog. The control in the pump dispenser and application area mean I rarely waste any glue, all the way down to the last drop. |

Get hold of a Revell contacta bottle (empty) and put the Loctite Super Attak into that. The thin metal tube can be blocked (sealed against air) and cleared if needed with thin steel wire or, replace the tube with Blunt (Mixing) Needles link The needles, if they block up, can be removed and replaced. Basically, whatever you do,the glue will eventually Clog. The real problem is air (moisture ) getting to the glue so keeping it out is half the battle. The more viscous the glue, the less it Clogs (or better said, it Clogs later on) I always do this Routine after use; Hold the bottle upright, gently tap the bottom of the bottle against a hard surface to clear the nozzle. Then gentley squeeze the bottle to see if any residue comes out of the nozzle, wipe any residue away with paper towel dampened with acetone and replace the cap/cover. |

I have never used anything else but original for figure to wood base connection. |

Same as etotheipi -- Loctite gel. I can't remember ever having a glog with this product. If I did have a glog, I would try clearing it with a straight pin. |

Loctite Gel. No clogging, ever. Keep it in the Fridge to prolong use. |

I am another Loctite Gel user. Years ago I worked in a hobby shop and the owner told me to store it in may refrigerator. I go through long stretches mainly in the summer when I do not use it. No clogging problems and the shelf life is great. |

I have only ever used two super glues…..zap-a-gap in the greenbottle…and I tried gorilla glue once. I liked both, but I prefer zap-a-gap. Very rarely does it clog, and when it does I insert a tooth pick or small nail….good to go. |

Zap-a-gap is really good, but I will also pick up the cheaper SuperGlue from hardware stores and not worry too much if it dries out. |

I use cheap stuff from the supermarket, wipe the nozzle before replacing the cap and store upright. Lasts just as long as any expensive brand and still sticks things together. |

Another one for Loctite gel. Being a gel it doesn't try to escape from where you put it. |

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I must get me some Loctite gel then & some So cheap superglue for card buildings etc.Makes sense. Paul the idea of using a Revell bottle has merit,I like the idea of having a thin metal nozzle & cleaning the tip with acetone after use. I have used a Revell bottle with white glue but the whole thing as you say eventually became solid , so there must be a problem with air. Z |

have found that Bond It super glue doesn't gum up it top, this is due to it screw down dispenser top which seems to push the surplus glue back into the pot & and small amount out of top. Will get a small amount of dried glue at tip but this is easily scraped off. |

Thanks for the tips. I'll start using the fridge. I use superglue from the dollar store, in the smallest possible tubes (and they have some very small tubes). I store them vertically to minimize drying out. I also use Loctite for some applications. |

One way to clear the nozzle of a bottle is to tap the bottle a couple of times on the table after use before you put the glue back to the fridge. |

I use Loctite Professional Super Glue, which is the only brand that I will use. I've tried them all and this is the best. I have never heard of Loctite Attak. Is that a UK brand? |

Here is my preferred brand.

Loctite Gel, no problems! |
zrunelord | 04 Jul 2016 12:38 p.m. PST |
I use Loctite Precision almost exclusively (it's imported from Italy) like this one. clasohlson.com/uk/Loctite-Super-Attak/18-4184 As I said the main problem is not the glue but the fact that glue clogs the tip & since this particular precision tip is small & made of soft plastic it ends up breaking off. I will have to start to clean it off with acetone. Until I find a better solution. Another very good brand I used was made by Wurth Z |

I've gone to inserting a pin with one of those plastic balls in the end, to seal the nozzles, and making subsequent clearing easier. Seems to work, sometimes, unless the whole bottle dries out. |
