I need to "build" a Roman army to throw at my Spartacus 28mm slave revolt army. But I am confused as to what period in the Roman army is correct. I would like to use 1t Corps figures. They have 3 different periods it looks like. 1. Early Republican Rome link 2. Late Republican Rome link 3. Early Imperial Rome link Could I get away with either of the above 3? Appreciate any assistance. |

Late Republican Romans. By the time Spartacus died in 71 BC, the Marian Reforms had taken place, so Late Republican would be the most appropriate. Damon. |

Some of those legions raised were also either raw, untested troops or even penal cohorts, and [possibly entire legions. The quality of the troops wasn't the best, and the leadership somewhat suspect as well, which is one reason the revolt lasted as long as it did. |
