Some time back I heard that there might be a 2nd Edition of FoG N in the works that included all the errata to date, a new index and an overall of the rules to sort out the layout and poor editing from the original. Does anyone know if it's true and if it is, has it become a victim of the Geroge R R Martin Syndrome, due to appear sometime in the future if the author ever gets round to finishing it! In my view they are rules with some nice ideas that deserve to be more popular but have always needed the alleged reworking. |

Very unlikely, since they've announced that they're getting out of the printed rulebook business altogether and have sold off the remainders at bargain prices. |

That said Terry is the driving force behind FoG:AM v3 , which has just started play testing. The only this for certain is that they have parted ways with Osprey, so publishers are at the moment unknown. Richard is still plugging away at the FoG computer games Simon has got his own product (for ancients – Mortem et Gloriam) out in July. so the quorum of authors has split but they are all still active. However, where FoG:N is in Terry's queue is unknown. |

Thanks, I had wondered if the split with Osprey would be the nail in the coffin, sounds likely, that's a shame. |

There was a bit of noise about it on the Slytherine forums. I was hoping that the 2nd edition would be better organised so players can actually find things. Good rules, but the layout and perceived complication put off a lot of potential players. |

Yeah exactly my feelings too. A lot of the "complication" is really in the writing and editing muddle which makes them slower to learn. |

On the Slitherine forum Terry Shaw announced they had decided not to do a full V2. Instead he was going to release a downloadable V1.5 with a few changes/clarifications that was apparently going to run to about 6 pages. Since then it seems to have become lost in the mists of time and nothing has been heard (I suspect Terry has shifted focus to V3 of ancients) I love FOG Napoleonics and think it is well worth the effort of learning. Everyone that I've come across that have played FoG:Nap at least 2-3 times have thought they are good rules. They have the "ahh" moment when it clicks and the games really flow. There is a bit of skill involved in handling all your units and formations. I might make enquiries about V1.5 but I would get V2 in a heartbeat. |

Me too, hence the post. The picture they give of how hard it is to keep a force successfully in action as the units gradually wear out, isn't represented in any other Napoleonic rules I know of. |

A Quick update on v2 FOGN. The second edition has finished development and is currently with the typesetters who are formatting it. Current timeframes have the rules being available from Amazon, probably in August. New army list books will follow the v2 rules, probably by a couple of months. |
