This was based on the January 23, 1943 attack on the Japanese freighter Toa Maru and her escort Oshio. I cut the forces down so that 4 people could handle the game so we had an attack force of 4 SBDs (VMSB 233), instead of 12, and an escort of 4 F4F (VMO 251) instead of 20 and no TBFs (VMSB 131). Japanese defenders had 2 Pete floatplanes and a couple of Zekes to start (204th Kok)with a later batch of 4 (instead of the 9)coming in when the 4th player arrived.

I lost both Petes, One Zeke went down to friendly fire, 1 Wildcat was lost and 1 SBD was damaged and the Maru took a single hit. Historically the freighter was finished off but there were a lot more Marines aiming for it.
