Does anyone know of any manufacturers producing early/mid 13th Century Russians in a smaller, more '25' mm size and proportions? Or anything less chunky than modern 28s?

Minifigs do an 'Alexander Nevsky' range, which is 25mm but it is in the traditional rather 'chunky' Minifigs style:

Unfortunately the figures are also very expensive. For some reason this range seems to cost more per figure than the other Minifig 25mm ranges.

Zvezda 1/72 plastic Russians are lovely, don't know if they might suit your purposes? Valdemar do metal figs to complement them, also lovely but pricey.

It's a new range of young russian company Commissar miniatures.

SJD Thanks for posting the picture. Brought back fond memories from when Minifigs was in Pine Plains New York. I was sorely tempted to order them, but ended up buying early Imperial Romans. Foot 10 cents, cavalry 20 cents, officers, musicians etc. 25 cents.
