Since Friday will be a better presentation opportunity I can go for Friday. Will need the 30x30 ft space. I have the navy blue sheets for the water representation for the naval action.

For minimal disruption I will run 2 events back to back. Take your pick on which order will be best.

Both events will be with Seekrieg V.

The other game master for these events will be Joe Czarnecki. He is a member of the official Seekrieg Admiralty and had considerable input into several design concepts that made Seekrieg V such a vast historical improvement over Seekrieg 4.

I can think of no better individual I would rather have by my side. He is a former naval aviator and an absolutely brilliant naval analyst and a keen historian. His commentary and insights leave everyone much wiser and with a better understanding of naval combat and naval history.

The models used will be the Navis 1/1250 that are in use in the official Wilhelmshaven naval museum and the recognized ultimate naval miniatures. They are the Ferraris of naval miniatures at $150 USD-$200 a pop and the museum quality to match…

-----------------------------------------------------------------

75th Anniversary event

Denmark Strait, May 25, 1941.

The 75th anniversary of the most famous naval action of all time…The Bismarck/Prinz Eugen vs the Hood/Prince of Wales. Will the magnificent "Mighty Hood" go up in a 4th of July explosion again, or will history be rewritten?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

100th Anniversary event

Run to the South, May 31, 1916

The 100th anniversary of the greatest dreadnought battleship battle of all time. A stray neutral ship brings both the German and British battlecruisers into action and the Germans try to bait the British into following them to a waiting German High Seas Fleet battleline… This segment of the battle will be fought in the center with the German Battleline to the South edge of the battle area and the British battleline to the North edge of the battle area to give context to the battle within the battle.

Kevin said Friday will be the best day, with Sunday being the reserve date.

Let us know the time and place so that we can also post this to the Seekrieg board and other miniature boards ASAP…

Will do.

Run to the South will be at 6pm to 8pm. Having 60 Navis ships painted to museum quality will be a sight to see…

Bismarck action (Denmark Strait) will be 8pm to 10pm

This will be a once in a lifetime event. When the smoke cleared it cost me close to ten grand all-in getting everything from Germany to get all 60 of the capital ships present at Jutland.

Then another several months doing the research to get them painted accurately (using reading glasses and a magnifying glass until there were no flaws left).

Pretty spectacular to see 12 feet of British dreadnoughts end to end

No wonder Scheer hauled *** twice!

Here are pics of some of the ships

The loaded for me. Man, Agincourt looks cool as heck.

zaevor2000 I think you're a little off with the numbers of Capital ships at Jutland.

There was 64 Capital ships at Jutland:

British
24-Dreadnoughts
4-Fast Battleships
9-Battlecruisers

German
22-Dreadnoughts
5-Battlecruisers

Also I take it that for the ten grand you got all 248 ships at Jutland?

For myself I went with 1/3000th scale and spent maybe a few hundered dollars and storage is much easier.

the 4 fast battleships were with Beatty's force so I didn't include them in the line.

But I have all the dreadnoughts and battlecruisers from Jutland.

I didn't have the budget or the time to paint all that PLUS the supporting forces.

I figured for the gaming con, your gamers want to see the big boys play ;)

You can demo the subactions.

The main show is the Run to the South. The battle lines are there to provide context to the Germans running South to bait the British battlecruisers and then the British baiting them back to the North into the gaping maw of the Grand Fleet.

Each division of 4 ships has it's own movement tray, so it will be easy to demo how Jellicoe was able to cross Scheer's T without taking lots of time moving lots of ships…

The main brawl will be quickly demo'd instead of fought out.

We want to have results and quick running game to wrap up in 2 hrs.

This is as much an EVENT as it is a game…

If it can be a catalyst to bring us more naval gamer interest it will have served it's purpose.

Understood thanks for the clarification.

You're very welcome.

With all of us running games we should be able to get some good gamers that like the big battleships in all their grandeur and get more naval gamers!

I thought this was the best approach for a 2 hr game at a Con with the thought to bring in new gamers.

I thought that the big 1/1250s with 2,000 yrds per foot gives you a good appreciation of the distance between ships (the opening range of 16,500 gives 8 1/4 feet) and when combined with having players look through ground level periscopes (a cool gaming device Steve made and gave to me- I have 1 for each side), ship ID is much more realistically presented ;)

Man this is going to be a cool event…

The events will be in the Grand Foyer…

We played Jutland here with 1/2400 ships using GQ3 a month ago – it took a day and a half. Every capital ship and cruiser was represented, and then a telescoped set of destroyers. The size is impressive when you have that many ships. I'll look forward to seeing the setup with the 1/1250 models.

The improved Navis models are incredibly impressive and painting them up right should make them even better.
