Do you feel there is any demand for "irregular" cavalry figures in this period? Do most popular rules include these type of troops? If so, mounted or dismounted? I assume they would carry pistols, shotguns, rifles, carbines, etc? Any "uniform" information available? TIA Dave Stone Mountain Miniatures, Inc. WargamingMiniatures.com |

I believe that Dixon makes them as well. |

Pendraken do a few in 10mm. I am surprised that there isn't more interest in this. The Tran-Mississippi region is a fascinating period of the Civil War. Also nicely ties the Civil War to the Wild West. |

I could certainly see the value for skirmish level games. |

As I understand the question, is there a demand among gamers for that type of figure? I would think they would be great for skirmish games. I wish I had thought about them when I started ACW armies for Brother Against Brother. I have considered getting some to add to my existing ACW armies, but they are 28mm. |

I have never heard of the company called Company D, they have some really neat ACW items. How do they stack up with other makers? Also I could not find the "Bloody Kansas" line, were they discontinued? Warlord |

What my original question was is there a demand for a range of these types of figures in 15mm and are they supported in most popular rule sets? Dave |

Hi Dave, I've got three sets of ACW rules (Guns at Gettysburg, Mr Lincoln's War and GHQ Micro Force) and none include rules for irregular cavalry (or even any mention of them for that matter). I have, however, got some 15mm irregular raiders from the old Minifigs range but to be honest haven't been sure how to use them. I would have thought the main demand for this kind of figure would come from skirmish gamers but I'm not sure how many people do that in 15mm (or how many people are into 15mm ACW skirmish gaming for that matter). With regard to uniform and equipment I would go for mainly civilian with the odd military item: hats with feathers in the brim, shotguns, braces of pistols, lanterns or flaming torches for setting fire to stuff and bottles of rotgut whiskey to keep the courage up. If you did them in 15mm I would surely be interested in getting them. Can't afford much 28mm anymore. |

I appreciate the "bottles of rotgut". I wouldn't have though of that, so good comment. Dave |

In 15mm, I use Blue Moon Texas Rangers (Mexican-American War range) and Mounted Texicans (Texas War of Independence) as ACW irregular cavalry and bushwackers. |
