Israel invades the Gaza strip and you play the tip of the spear aiming to control the main highway near Al Mughraqa to isolate Gaza. You face numerous militants and every turn you take they mobilize more troops…. |

Have them team up with the Egyptians, and/or the Egyptians and US to rid the Sinai of the ISIS scourge. |

Syrians move to transfer SAMs to Hezbollah and Israel must stop transfer. Battle can consist of random aplearance of Hezbollah after Israel-Syrian battle has begun. |

Post 2006? I'd go fictional and do a full incursion across the Syrian border to knock out some facility or other. Strong Israeli push versus an understrength Syrian battalion. Give the Israeli the edge in training and equipment but make the time requirement for the scenario extremely tight and give the Syrians the benefit of defensible positions and make one of their companies battle-hardened veterans. |

ISIS dirt bags attack an Israeli patrol with the intention of capturing soldiers. The ultimate objective is to draw the IDF into Syria in a repeat of the 2006 war against Hezbollah, destabilizing the region further and uniting forces under their banner to defeat the Israeli "aggressors." You can base an entire campaign off of that premise alone. |

To get a decent, evenly matched battle you probably need Jordanians. But for the life of me I can't think of a scenario which would pit the IDF up against them, unless something really dark happens on the West Bank. |

Probably a better chance of Israel vs. Egypt. (not really) Egypt has been very well armed and trained by the US as their reward for the Camp David Accords. Think Abrams vs Merkavas. F-16s vs F-16s. |

If you can, get a copy of the Book "Total War 2006", it has some excellent descriptions of an Egyptian/Israeli tank clash in exactly the style cwlinsj talks about… also an overall great inspiration for combat ideas! :) |

Lebanon, Gaza Strip and East Bank have been stockpiling huge amounts of mortars and disposable rocket launched munitions. One morning right before dawn Israel wakes up to a massive and sustained bombardment. Counter battery is ineffective due to the disposable nature of the rocket launchers and the shoot and scoot tactics of the mortar teams. Israelis objectives are to cross into enemy territory, find the munition stockpiles and eliminate them along with any OPFOR they encounter. Freedom fighter / Terrorist (my attempt to be neutral) objectives are to keep up sustained bombardment while preventing Israel from achieving its objectives. This has been in the planning stages for a long time so it is well organized with a prepared defense and ambushes set up. |

Jordan's government overthrown by a hardline, fundamentalist military coup, the country begins to fragment a la Syria, and Israel decides to intervene, cross the River Jordan and occupy Amman and the greater Samaria region to establish a safe zone for the Jordanian monarchy to establish a client state. |

Israel pushes to stop Syria transferring arms to Hezbollah and bumps into Syrian allies Russia by mistake. |

Not 2006, but some of my favorite battles to study and wargame is during the '48 War. A lot of interesting actions in the Jerusalem and surrounding areas, etc., … Like battles for Latrun, etc. link |
