Gentlemen, will 40mm cavalry fit on a 2" base? As in 2 horse? And what would a minimalist artillery base be? With a gun and 2 artillerists. I tested the infantry at 6 infantry per 2" base, and they worked fine. Thank you for any help, I have not ordered anything besides the infantry and was trying to get an idea. |

Milkshake, you can fit 2 horses on a 2" wide base, but it is pretty cramped. I just checked this out with a couple of Perry's 40mm Hussars. On a 2" wide base the figure's boots have to touch to keep both figures wholly within the boundary of the base. Here's a couple of photos (sorry for the poor quality – smart phone in poor lighting). I've moved the figures slightly to keep their boots apart:
I tried a slightly wider base (2.5"). To my eye they look better, but if you are intent on the smallest base possible then you could just get away with 2" wide:
I have no 40mm artillery figures so can't comment on suitable bases sizes. Hope that helps. |

2.5" base looks much better. I use 2" base for 28mm and even that can be pretty tight at times depending on pose. 2.5" or 3" for 40mm sounds sensible. |

3" squares sound pretty reasonable. |

Thanks Robert! You are welcome. Glad to be of help. 3" squares sound pretty reasonable. I agree. Perfect size I think. |
