Just spotted that there is a 1/72 kit of these Dougram light vehicles coming out, which are sweet looking!
Anyone make something close to this in 1/285?

Never seen any specifically like those, but I know that Brigade Models has some little jeep-type vehicles that might work as proxies. |

The Arcadia buggies are cute, but not 6-wheeled, 2-spares, with missile launchers and a MG cute ^,^
The original is so cute that I broke down and ordered a box of the 1/72 pair last night from 1999.co. It's coming SAL, so in a month of so, I should have those to get dimensions. |

I'm familiar with the quality differences of Shapeways materials. Generally for smaller vehicles, I spend for the Frosted Ultra. But that also depends on the designer's recommendation too. From the mock-ups, it looks like there is enough detail that FUD would be a noticeable improvement over WSF — do you think that it would indeed make a difference based on the detail you put in?
Shapeways does have 20% of SF this weekend, if there's not likely to be a big difference, I'll go for that. If it's likely to be noticeable, then I'll hem and haw over the budget ^,^

Yeah, I really think FUD or White Acrylic would be best for these. I only make a buck either way, so I'm not encouraging the more expensive material for any selfish reasons! |

Looking at the render, it did seem like the FUD would work best, but alas the gaming budget is tight now. I bought the WSF at the end of the sale on Sunday night. They're in production now, can't wait to see them! |

Haven't arrived yet. Got a note from Shapeways saying production was delayed, no specific reason given. Expected to ship sometime by next Tuesday is the current prognostication.

Haven't forgotten the pictures!
I did snap some in the raw state. WSF doesn't photograph real well, but really punching down the exposure and up the contrast helps. I'm finally getting a chance to clean them up now with a light scraping to remove some of the printing fuzz. After they're primed in tan, they'll photograph a lot better and I'll post pics then. |
