Anything can work for SciFi. That's one of the great things about it. After all, there's only so many ways to build a box to hold fleshbags! These do show off the one big limit of the MDF terrain: curves. CorSec Engineering had a novel idea for a Quonet hut: etch thin styrene as the dome. You get a round frame and just "bend" the plastic over it. Mixed success, and they discontinued the model, but worthy of exploring further! By the way your link does not work for me.
