Anything can work for SciFi. That's one of the great things about it. After all, there's only so many ways to build a box to hold fleshbags!

These do show off the one big limit of the MDF terrain: curves. CorSec Engineering had a novel idea for a Quonet hut: etch thin styrene as the dome. You get a round frame and just "bend" the plastic over it. Mixed success, and they discontinued the model, but worthy of exploring further!
