I am doing a regiment of the French Volunteer Hussars (also called the Napoleon Hussars) for my 1800-04 French army. Their deep yellow and deep sky blue uniform is hard to beat for being colorful. But I am ready to do the lacing and am not sure how to go about it.

The lacing was a mix of white and what looks like a similar deep sky blue, but on a 15 MM figure, just how much do I need to worry about it. My thinking is to just paint a few dots of the sky blue on the white lacing and then hit the figure with a wash.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

Terry

I think the technique you suggest should work pretty well. However, at that scale I am not sure that the dots of sky blue would be necessary (and it might just end up looking like you had accidentally paint splattered the figures). For froggig / lacing I tend to use a dry brush technique so if I wanted to bring both colours out I would probably initially paint the lacing sky blue and then dry brush over it in white.

I think you are probably right. I'll wash the figures first and see how it looks I can always the lace after if need be.
