I rmember testors in the 1970 when did Acrylic paint start being used in Miniatures? |

IIRC, It was Duke Seifried (Custom Cast after the move to Centerville, Ohio) when he started to demo his brand of small acrylic paint pots and technique that his wife developed at the time. His wife was an accomplished artist, BTW. This was circa 1974. Floquil brought out their Poly-S line around the same time, but I don't remember which came first. I do remember that Poly-S was before Testors as I was working at Fairborn Hobby at the time and when using acrylics, my headaches stopped and my painting got better! |

Heritage paints was after Custom Cast merged with Heritage. Up to that time, Heritage was the US Manufacturer for Hinchliffe. If I was back home in the USA, I could look up the Wargamer's Digest or Courier that announced the merger, and nail the date.IIRC, the paint line is mentioned in the article as one of the lines that Custom Cast was bringing to the merger. |

I was buying acrylics for my D&D miniatures in the late 1970s. I remember Floquil. I gave away all my Testors and Humbrols shortly thereafter. No more spirits, yay! |

Uncle Duke hooked me on Heritage paints at a convention. I then threw away my Testor's and Pactra. |

Indeed. I was pleased to have the opportunity to char with him for a few minutes at Gencon last year, and thank him for all the stuff I've enjoyed over the years. |

Sorry, just checked – they're casein, not acrylic. |

I had a friend using Artists Acrylics @ '74, the stuff from the tubes |

The earliest I used were the Polly S paints back in the late 70's. |

Floquil Polly-S was the paint line that convinced me to switch from Humbrol oil-based paints to acrylics back in the early 80's. |

Yup, Polly S converted me from enamels as well. Late 70's |

Indeed it was Duke. He developed a style of painting that he called stain painting. He primed the figure with gesso and then brushed on thinned acrylic paint so that it stained the gesso. |

Yow! You guys have great memories. I was going to mention Heritage acrylics myself, but you beat me to it. If I'm not mistaken, Heritage paints didn't last long. I still mourn the demise of Polly S. |

I think I got my first acrylics by Heritage on '77 0r '78. Ral Partha (the originals)did some nice paints in the day. |

Lordghee, I bought a bunch of Armory paints at my first convention (Fall-In). I really liked a few, but many had bad coverage…for me anyway. Nice glass bottles. |
