Howdy,

The first miniatures battle of the campaign occurred on Turn 3. Hardee's Corps attempted to force elements of Thomas' Corps from Hoover's Gap. After the fight (skirmish?) Hardee retreated toward Shelbyville with small loss.

All the players have now submitted their Turn 4 orders. Each side's basic strategy is becoming clear.

The Union is attempting envelope the Confederates, using their superior numbers, and force them back by threatening their supply lines.

The Confederates, outnumbered, are attempting to snip at isolated Union forces.

Turn 4 we have a battle near Manchester. Polk's Corps is attacking two divisions of Thomas' Corps (Negley & Reynolds). Bonnaroo!!!

More to come …

Has Brady or one of his employees accompanied the armies?

Pictures, please.

I recognize the resin earthworks from Musket Miniatures. Very nice. No wonder the rebs called off the attack.

Howdy,

Selected photos from the Bonaroo Festival (aka miniatures battle set near Manchester, Tennessee). The Festival resulted from moves on Turn 4 of the Tullahoma Campaign.

Elements of Thomas's Corps (Negley and Reynold's division), about 8000 strong, were constructing hasty works after occupying Manchester and driving off Wheeler's cavalry. They were attacked by Bragg – Polk's Corps (about 16,000) was committed to the attack.

The die (d6) in the photographs indicate the Turn Number. The battle started at noon, and went until early evening, when the Federal position was turned.

Photo 1 – At start, Union position; General Table Edge contributes to the defense.

Photo 2 – Confederate assault column approaches the Federal positions.

Photo 3- Polk's Corp deploys before the Federal positions around Manchester.

Photo 4- Confederates atttack the Union left flank, and compromise the defensive position.

Negley's division is exhausted, and the Federals retreat toward Hoover's Gap. We move forward to Turn 5 of the campaign.

Ponder on,

Just a question. Why would you design the scenario so that the Union have their backs to the edge of the board? There is no room for maneuver, and no room for the Union to possibly rally and retake the position. Its basically just a head-on fight.
