Anyone using blank credit cards for basing? Due to their thinness, I think they should be ideal for smaller scales up to 6mm. |

Done it for years. Walk into any high street store or coffee chain. By the cash register, they'll have a display stand of loyalty cards. Smile nice, take a handful, and say goodbye to armies that look like, if they fell of the edge of their base, the drop would kill them. |

Not credit cards, but I have used hotel key cards to mount some terrain pieces on. With the magnetic strip scraped off, of course, and painted over. |

You can also just get plastic sheets from railroad hobby shops and chop 'em up with scissors. |

I like my thin steel. Consistent, magnetic and pre-cut. But if you just want thin heck, half the packaging in your recycle bin will work… |

I get credit card sized parking debit cards from work. When they are used up I use them to base my 20mm tanks. Free plastic is great. |

I use self adhesive linoleum floor tiles from home depot. 39 cents for a square foot, easy to paint (I just spray paint them), easy to cut, and you can easily put a label on the reverse side. |

I use them for wagons and such in 15mm and larger sizes. cut down when necessary. Some glues (for sand basing) don't like the slick plastic so I cover them with decoupage first. |

I use old credit cards, hotel key cards, conference Id badges etc to base my 15mm stuff, infantry and tanks, ww2 and napoleonic. |

That is brilliant! Linoleum also scores and snaps more easily than hard plastic sheets. Never thought of using them for basing. Doh! |
