What are you doing at Historicon??

A couple of friends and I are running a Force on Force game on Friday: F-176 (2pm) and F-177 (7pm) A BAD DAY AT HUSAYBAH: Unknown to the Marines in Husaybah, Al Qaeda moved 300 insurgents into the city. The insurgents moved from harassing mortar attacks to direct assaults on Marine units. A Marine OP became involved in a major fire fight requiring the Marine QRF to rescue them. Can the QRF relieve and extract the OP from the insurgents?

And on Saturday, a Kursk Northern front battle: S-396 (1pm) and S-397 (7pm)---ADVANCE TO PONYRI: It's July 6th, 1943 on the northern sector of the German Citadel offensive. The German 9th Panzer has ordered Kampfruppes Schmahl and Mumert to establish a bridgehead across the Snova River just west of the fortress village of Ponyri Station. Unknown to the Germans, however, the Russians have just committed two regiments of the fresh 75th Guards Rifle Division making a German success far from certain. Familiarity with BGWW2 helpful, but not required. Child under 12 with adult please.

Hope to see you there!

Mike

They sound great!

I'll be running 4 games – two Ancients games with To the Strongest! rules on Thursday (10 AM, 6PM), one with Field of Battle, 2nd edition on Friday (5 PM), and one with classic Piquet (suggested for for veterans of the rules only!) at 7PM on Saturday:

T-373 The Assyrian Came Down Like a Wolf on the Fold.
A purely fictional match up between the most famous armies of the Chariot era – Egypt and Assyria.

T-374 Warriors of God: The Hussite Wars, 1420's
The Hussite movement began in Bohemia in the 1400's, predating
the Reformation by 100 years. With armies composed largely of
peasants, the Hussites defeated the much better equipped knights of the Catholic crusader armies repeatedly, using the Wagon Fortress tactics developed by Jan Ziska.

F-375 The Great Cavalry Battle of Liebertwolkwitz
Fought in the days preceding Leipzig, it was the largest cavalry action of the Napoleonic wars.

S-376 The Engagement at Klagenfurt: June 6, 1809
Chasteller's command is withdrawing from the Tyrol to rejoin
the main army. With the usual long Austrian baggage train in
tow. he must pass by the fortified town of Klagenfurt. General
de Division Rusca commands the French and Italian troops in
the town. Although outnumbered, he is not content to merely
observe events! A Napoleonic twist on the classic Wagon Train
scenario ensues.

Well once again I will not make Historicon. Perhaps if I ever manage to move back East. Roll some dice for me.

Hopefully I will learn DBA, Check Your 6 Jet Age, To The Strongest and other games I have been eyeing.

My GM parent Mike and I will be running two different games using the same 6x18ft table

Grapeshot on the Chesapeake, with a hint of Garlic?
An extremely hypothetical War of 1812 that has a British army conducting and land/sea assault against a US shipyard to try an capture a frigate. The US will be receiving help from an unexpected ally – a French intervention force! The rules will be a modified version of Longstreet. All good silly fun like last year's game that featured a British intervention force in the ACW.

The game will run 5 times

Thur:
T-293 @ 10am
T-314 @ 4pm

Fri:
F-311 @ 10am

Sat:
S-316 @ 9am
S-317 @ 9pm

The second game Mike and I will be running is an AWI skirmish game using the Musket and Tomahawks ruleset entitled "A Madman's Steeple Chase"

Fri:
F-294 @ 7:00pm

Sat:
S-318 @ 3:00pm

oops – I meant to say "GM Partner" not "GM Parent"

Then again, given my childish behavior…..

Battle at Nicaea: First Cavalry Battle of the First Crusade
Theme game
Medieval
4 hours
6 Players
GMs Rod Cain and Glen Cooley

T-358 Thursday 7PM
S-389 Saturday 1PM

Scale: 25mm; Rules: Triumph! WAR fast play ancient and medieval battles; No. of Players: 6.

May 1097AD – Kilij Arslan had already crushed the rag tag army that was the first wave or the People's Crusade. Now he faced the second wave – not just a bunch of peasants. It was led by some of the most powerful warlords of Europe; leading powerful armies of mounted knights. Nicaea now under siege sends an urgent plea for help and Kilij Arslan answers with a massive mounted force of his own. These two forces meet outside the walls of Nicaea in the largest mounted battle of the First Crusade. Rules are easy to learn and will be taught by the GM as needed. Armies will be provided. No players under 14 without adult supervision please.
