How messy is your hobby painting area/workbench?

dampfpanzerwagon Fezian07 Jun 2016 11:45 a.m. PST

I try to keep it clean, but scratch-building can sometimes turn it in to a right state.

GarrisonMiniatures07 Jun 2016 11:55 a.m. PST

Very.

NOLA Chris07 Jun 2016 11:56 a.m. PST

I *think* there is a table under all my stuff…
:)

45thdiv07 Jun 2016 11:57 a.m. PST

Pretty messy at the moment. Got 100 figures that had sat there for over a year finally finished with some help from my friend.

Still, I need to clean up the area.

Same for me as reported by all the above! Disaster area! I am sure I would do better painting if I made more room by putting more things away!……..

Zargon07 Jun 2016 12:02 p.m. PST

Yes

Wackmole907 Jun 2016 12:14 p.m. PST

I had a work bench but I havn't seen it for years.

Mostly tidy

GildasFacit Sponsoring Member of TMP07 Jun 2016 12:29 p.m. PST

My idea of a 'tidy' and 'well organised' workspace differ profoundly from what others seem to think is described by those words.

It isn't dirty (except for the paint splashes and lumps of congealed glue and filler) – I avoid getting dust on figures mostly by storing even part finished figures in boxes when I'm not working on them.

jtkimmel07 Jun 2016 12:30 p.m. PST

Not very messy if you mean paint spills and such. Cluttered with all manner of ongoing projects on the other hand….

shaun from s and s models07 Jun 2016 12:30 p.m. PST

very, all 3 of them!

It depends.

Surprisingly neat and tidy at present. The granddaughter has been using it and tidying up. That won't last long but hopefully she'll paint a few minies of mine while she's at it.

Timmo uk07 Jun 2016 12:43 p.m. PST

Generally pretty tidy. My daily work is at the same desk so often tidy everything away, not that there's that much in the first place to tidy away. I much prefer working in a clean, light and tidy environment. Mess = stress.

BCantwell07 Jun 2016 12:49 p.m. PST

I have a 2' x 4' desk and an 8" x 6" work space… the rest is paints, basing stuff, clutter, projects, household repair jobs, more clutter, etc

bc174507 Jun 2016 12:53 p.m. PST

Clear….has to be….just move the projects through…..

Like Timmo I use my desk for other things….

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP07 Jun 2016 12:57 p.m. PST

Clear here too. I work on prepping multiple projects at the same time so it has to be neat and organized.

Yesthatphil07 Jun 2016 1:13 p.m. PST

Messy

Phil

Choctaw07 Jun 2016 1:15 p.m. PST

Mine is thoughtfully cluttered.

basileus6607 Jun 2016 1:17 p.m. PST

I don't want to think about it. Move along. Nothing to see here.

14Bore07 Jun 2016 1:18 p.m. PST

I had to clear it from other junk to make room to paint. It's in a afternoon window and am liking the sunlight.

Zeelow07 Jun 2016 1:26 p.m. PST

Ha ha ha! My Man Divot is a picture of hording on a 2'x 2.5' space! Only the strong survive!

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP07 Jun 2016 1:29 p.m. PST

Very organized and clean!

Vigilant07 Jun 2016 1:35 p.m. PST

I believe that there's a house under here somewhere, though that could be a rumour.

kallman07 Jun 2016 1:45 p.m. PST

Um…well…ah…it's,…um, I can find what I need when I need it…mostly.

myxemail07 Jun 2016 1:49 p.m. PST

It's a disaster.

Mako1107 Jun 2016 2:50 p.m. PST

Pristine, I guess, since I don't have one, so am starting from scratch, sadly.

RavenscraftCybernetics07 Jun 2016 3:25 p.m. PST

so messy Im tempted to chuck it all and start over.

tberry740307 Jun 2016 3:41 p.m. PST

If it ain't messy, it ain't a workbench.

d effinger07 Jun 2016 3:49 p.m. PST

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh…. as messy as it could possibly be. I might have misplaced a children under the heap. If so… it is long gone.

Don

tigrifsgt07 Jun 2016 4:04 p.m. PST

The day I couldn't find two brand new tubes of glue, I knew it was time to clean it. (Testors red tube modeling glue)

IanKHemm07 Jun 2016 5:13 p.m. PST

Very.

wrgmr107 Jun 2016 5:17 p.m. PST

Sometimes messy, other times not.

Organized Disaster

Jamesonsafari07 Jun 2016 6:56 p.m. PST

Messy and it keeps trying to take over more space!

Berzerker7307 Jun 2016 8:02 p.m. PST

Usually messy, just cleaned it up a few weeks ago

KSmyth07 Jun 2016 8:10 p.m. PST

Pretty messy right now. I'm not one to resist taking the time to make sense of it, but it will have to wait a couple of weeks until school is out.

53Punisher07 Jun 2016 8:26 p.m. PST

After I finish getting it unburied, I'll let you know.

Lascaris07 Jun 2016 8:33 p.m. PST

Fairly organized. Two boxes of paints, a jar with brushes, water box, box to hold/mix paint in use, mini's being painted.

Dynaman878908 Jun 2016 4:43 a.m. PST

Both of them are a mess (one for painting and one for terrain/mounting figs).

A clean workbench is the sign of a sick mind!

Personal logo Saber6 Supporting Member of TMP Fezian08 Jun 2016 6:16 a.m. PST

I can't leave mine up. So clear when I'm not working and probably a few things too many when I am.

Dexter Ward08 Jun 2016 6:58 a.m. PST

It has the thing I'm working on on top – the desk is closed up when not in use to conceal all the paints/tools etc.
There's only ever one thing being worked on, and that's the only thing on the desk; it doesn't get put away till it's finished. That's the only way to make sure stuff does get finished.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP08 Jun 2016 8:31 a.m. PST

Right now it is very tidy

That is only because the Little Prince and I tidied it up last night- put away 40 paints into the right drawers, replaced all the paper covering the workspace, tossed out the garbage, organized the figs

Give us a week or so

Kraken Skulls Consortium08 Jun 2016 8:36 a.m. PST

Clean when I am not working on a project. A nightmare right now.

BelgianRay08 Jun 2016 12:00 p.m. PST

Some of you have made me laugh to tears reading. Really….

Phrodon08 Jun 2016 12:54 p.m. PST

Somewhere underneath all my stuff, I think there is a table. Organizing and cleaning my workspace has been on my to-do list for a while.

Phrodon08 Jun 2016 1:00 p.m. PST

I need a good paint organizer. Any suggestions?
