These troops are the counterparts for my British forces. This was the first stand that I completed for the French. My main goal was to take advantage of the 6mm scale and show them en masse on the base!

They were painted many years ago and I recently ran across them in the garage. I used Vallejo paints and Armory Black Primer as a base. It was still early in my painting career and I'm positive that I could do a better job now. I'd probably try to pick out the waistcoat behind the belting and I'd place more detail on the face.

There are more pictures on my blog. Feel free to comment here or there. Thanks!

What rules do you use, and what does one base represent?

von Winterfeldt07 Jun 2016 3:42 a.m. PST

very striking, what could you do better??

Good morning! I based them up for Sam Mustafa's Grande Armee ruleset with one base representing a brigade. The miniatures are glued onto 3" square bases with 80+ figures, so any ruleset that uses something approaching that size would work.

Scale Creep Miniatures carries Grande Armee if you are interested in checking it out. Grande Armee is one of my favorite rulesets for the Napoleonic Wars.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Very nicely done!

Thanks. I play Volley and Bayonet sometimes for a stand-is-a- brigade rules, so I was wondering if you were using brigade stands. 6mm is generally not my thing, but I think you've done a great job.

I have heard good things about V&B. Maybe someday I'll play those rules.

I appreciate your comments about 6mm. I was immediately taken by 6mm and it took me a while to decide to try 28mm historicals when I was getting started in the hobby. I am enjoying a bit of a small scale renaissance right now.

Aha ha ha! Sorry that you are unwell! But, that said, I'm sure that you could try it out and get a good result. When I first started out I didn't think that I'd get a good result, but after a few figures I saw immediate improvement. The Baccus sculpts make getting good results easier than you'd expect.

Get a few figures and try it out!
