Tomorrow's War has become my game of choice for Science Fiction and I have an extensive and continually growing 15 mm collection of figures and vehicles. However, the folks I am introducing the game to really seem to want to play in 28 mm. Mainly wanting to take their 40K stuff and convert it to a game that makes more sense to them. Which of course means they could use their GW vehicles. But I want to introduce some alternatives and also for myself I would like something that is less Dark Gothic and more plausible if you understand. So what options are available in 28 mm Sci-Fi vehicles? |

Check these out. link link Also, I think Mantic should have some vehicles in the pipe line as well. |

The cheap and cheerful tank option is the bronekorpus, available on your local eBay from various Russian sellers. Some of the gun options are a bit oversized, but you can make some decent APC/IFVs and tanks out of it, and I think there's a less-armoured support version too for AA vehicles. They come with a decent array of spare weapons, and take conversions very well if you'd rather use weapons from other kits. They're not terribly detailed, but good enough. It's also like $10 USD shipped. A review, with pictures: link Some painted examples: link |

You can find vehicles suitable for repainting and converting in a toy store or toy department, too. Just bring a figure along and see if the scale makes sense. |

I like these from Pig Iron. I think that Pig Iron is back in production.
These are some of the Russian ones. Buck |

I highly recommend the 10 buck Russian tanks. It's pretty simple, but a remarkably flexible kit. After I wrote the review above, I finally got around to building a few as APC's and painting then up I gave them the chassis raise that I describe in the review and I think it improves them quite a bit. It's a rather big pic, but if you click here… link …you can see how they compare to Sedition wars figs, Robotech models, Kryomek Storm Striders and a few others. -I also recommend checking out the VASA tank (also visible in the pic) from the Void 1.1 line, now distributed by Scotia Grendel. It's a small vehicle but has 3 interchangeable turret options. In fact the Void 1.1 and Kryomek sections of the site are well worth digging through for vehicles, but beware the kryomek tanks are more dwarf size than human size. -The Dust Tactics line has some interesting walkers and ground vehicles and with the uncertain future of the game are often on sale at various places. -Mantic is about to release a group of ground vehicles with the upcoming Warpath release. -Pig Iron only has one tank (albeit in 3 versions), but it's a very good one. Quite large, but with a great look. |

I am a big fan of the Old Crow 28mm range, (well all of their ranges really). With all of the various options, Wheeled, tracked, Hover, different turrets etc.. The option limitless-ish.

To add a couple that I don't think have been mentioned yet… For another Russian option, it's worth trying to get your hands on some Robogear vehicles from Tehnolog: link They aren't officially 28mm (more at around 35mm I think) but they are nice hard plastic, easy to convert and you can usually find them for cheap enough that you can ditch the most toylike bitz without too much of harm done to your budget. Companies better known for their generally-not-GW conversion bitz business, MaxMini and Puppets War do some vehicles (especially the latter, and in that case I can vouch for their good casting quality too): maxmini.eu/miniatures link Finally, Deamonscape do (or did, I couldn't get their site to work for me but it may be a browser-related problem) the old GZG resin minis line with some new additions. Some of the vehicles are a little too close to "real 25mm" to fit with the modern we-say-this-is-28mm-but-we-really-mean-30+mm lines but some are reasonably sized even for today's market: link |

Well, you could always try your hand at kitbashing… I mean, you'd be amazed what you can do with a plastic Christmas tree ornament and an empty plastic cheese container:

As an emergency measure, there are many cool papercrafting kits to download for speculative fictitious vehicles. Try Genet models, and look on Wargame Vault. If you have a bit more time for the project, are you handy with MDF? link Grendel have some: link Also Scotiagrendel have the old Void and Urban War ranges, which includes some vehicles (the Void range more so) as well as the Kryomek series, which have machines for the Nexus and bio-tech vehicles for the Kryomek aliens. |

I think Khurasan miniatures has some really good tanks in their 28mm line. |
