Are you a gamer who insists on only metal figures?

Wildman03 Jun 2016 8:03 p.m. PST

No.

PzGeneral03 Jun 2016 8:06 p.m. PST

Nope

53Punisher03 Jun 2016 8:07 p.m. PST

Way back I used to be, but not anymore.

Pictors Studio03 Jun 2016 8:08 p.m. PST

No. I prefer plastic to metal in most cases.

nsolomon9903 Jun 2016 8:11 p.m. PST

Used to be, sneered at plastic I did, but now I actually vastly prefer plastic, easier and faster to assemble and modify.

Stryderg03 Jun 2016 8:15 p.m. PST

Definitely not. I've been known to play with metal, plastic, wood and paper. You know…when I game at all.

Cyrus the Great03 Jun 2016 8:18 p.m. PST

Definitely not!

vtsaogames03 Jun 2016 8:19 p.m. PST

No.

Combat Colours03 Jun 2016 8:22 p.m. PST

no.

Syrinx003 Jun 2016 8:27 p.m. PST

Yes. I only have metal for my RPG & skirmish figures. I prefer metal but have a lot of plastic figures in my armies.

The Beast Rampant03 Jun 2016 8:27 p.m. PST

I find I prefer metal over plastic, for no logical reason.

I have plenty of plastic, and love the ease of assembly and conversions, but better than 90% of my finished minis are still pewter (or lead).

Volstagg Vanir03 Jun 2016 8:32 p.m. PST

Absolutely.

I've yet to have a plastic project survive long term storage.
Metal lasts forever.

Winston Smith03 Jun 2016 8:34 p.m. PST

Kind of.
Back in the day when I played WRG Ancients tournaments, I loved needing two hands to pick up a stand of 28mm cataphracts.
Nothing like the heft of a metal elephant.

Weasel03 Jun 2016 8:38 p.m. PST

And here I was going to talk about Slayer and Cattle Decapitation

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP03 Jun 2016 8:42 p.m. PST

No

Bashytubits03 Jun 2016 9:12 p.m. PST

Not even close. Soft plastic, hard plastic, Lead, Pewter and Resin. I am material neutral I guess.

Personal logo Doctor X Supporting Member of TMP03 Jun 2016 9:17 p.m. PST

Insists? No. Prefers? Yes.

Jamesonsafari03 Jun 2016 9:19 p.m. PST

No.
I prefer Dean Martin and Michael Bublé

KSmyth03 Jun 2016 9:35 p.m. PST

No, but I definitely prefer metal for my miniatures.

brass103 Jun 2016 9:45 p.m. PST

I used to stick with metal but the price of metal is rising constantly as is quality of plastic so I'm looking more and more to plastic for the grunts while buying metal for characters, generals, guns, etc.

LT

Lascaris03 Jun 2016 10:44 p.m. PST

I prefer metal but will use plastic if I need to.

SJDonovan04 Jun 2016 2:13 a.m. PST

I like my miniatures to have some heft so I only use metal figures mounted on metal bases.

John Treadaway04 Jun 2016 2:18 a.m. PST

My preference is resin and plastic just for quality of castings, but I'm honestly not that fussed.

John T

Martin Rapier04 Jun 2016 2:48 a.m. PST

Nope. Started with plastic figures and now delighted with the modern Renaissance of plastic, both hard and soft.

I do have some metal figures too:)

Mute Bystander04 Jun 2016 2:50 a.m. PST

Do they make plastic for 3mm? (Probably not)

6mm? (Possible?)

15mm (this, maybe?) if they were compatible with my current metal, I would consider it.

25+mm? Does Reaper Bones count? If so, then no, whatever fits the intended use is what I would use.

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP04 Jun 2016 3:04 a.m. PST

I prefer plastic, will buy metal only if it is a bargain or no other option.

GildasFacit Sponsoring Member of TMP04 Jun 2016 3:21 a.m. PST

Similar to MB, the scales I do are not widely available in plastic.

I tried assembling one of these multi-pose plastic 28mm and it was such a pain and so fragile I can't see why anyone would bother.

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP04 Jun 2016 4:04 a.m. PST

No.

No.

I prefer plastic figures for conversion ease. My most common figure is plastic on a metal washer. Give is a bit of heft and lot of stability. Plus, it's hard to do this

Judge Dredd, just hangin' out…

… with a metal figure.

Green Tiger04 Jun 2016 4:16 a.m. PST

Hell no! Most of mine are soft plastic…

Rrobbyrobot04 Jun 2016 4:20 a.m. PST

I started out with Airfix. So plastic's ok. Then I 'graduated' to metal miniatures. So metal's ok. Nowadays plastic's back and I'm ok with both, or either.

No.

Cosmic Reset04 Jun 2016 4:41 a.m. PST

I tend to prefer metal for non-vehicles. I find that plastic dudes slide down hills and whatnot, so don't care for them so much. I've also had far more breakage with plastic dudes. Like resin for giant figs and vehicles, and like plastic for aircraft.

45thdiv04 Jun 2016 4:46 a.m. PST

Yes for the most part. I have been getting into resin and plastic for the crisp detail for painting.

I find that the plastic and resin figures can be fragile.

Chuckaroobob04 Jun 2016 4:47 a.m. PST

No, but:
The perfect fig is a one piece casting of metal.

Col Durnford04 Jun 2016 5:27 a.m. PST

Yes!

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP04 Jun 2016 5:46 a.m. PST

I only have metal figures now but have had both plastic and resin in the past. I'm not anti-plastic and think some on the market today are beautiful, but I like the metal figures better.

Ben Lacy Sponsoring Member of TMP04 Jun 2016 5:57 a.m. PST

When I began this hobby in the early 80s, they laughed at me when I showed up with 1/72nd scale ESCI plastic figures. I was told, real wargamers only used metal. It's a hard habit to break now.

Spooner604 Jun 2016 6:06 a.m. PST

Yes, I have yet to find a plastic figure that paints up as well as a metal figure.

Chris

Ceterman04 Jun 2016 6:25 a.m. PST

I'd rather have metal. I have about 40 plastic figs outta 600 or so…

Dynaman878904 Jun 2016 6:36 a.m. PST

No – I'm even good with paper stand ups.

Zeelow04 Jun 2016 6:42 a.m. PST

No. Prefer plastic.

Jeigheff04 Jun 2016 7:48 a.m. PST

I prefer metal, but I'm not against plastic.

Personal logo DWilliams Supporting Member of TMP04 Jun 2016 7:49 a.m. PST

Yes, give me metal, or give me death!

peterx Supporting Member of TMP04 Jun 2016 8:17 a.m. PST

Nope. I buy both plastic and metal miniatures.

steamingdave4704 Jun 2016 8:46 a.m. PST

Prefer metal, but own a fair few plastics, especially WW2 vehicles.

legatushedlius04 Jun 2016 9:23 a.m. PST

I but lots of plastic figures but hardly ever paint them…

Ironsides04 Jun 2016 10:44 a.m. PST

prefer metal, but will use plastic or resin figures.

Inkpaduta04 Jun 2016 12:08 p.m. PST

YES! No plastic no resin figures. Metal! The way God intended us to play wargames! Did H G Wells use plastic? No!
Plastic is just plain wrong.
