These are the new ECW rules by the owner of Bicorne miniatures.

I have read them through and had a question.

What do you do when units contact in melee other than straight on?

The rules imply that if there's any contact between units all stands fight, regardless of whether a particular stand is in contact with the enemy.

So do you just leave the units where they are, shuffle the charger over to be flush with the defender? Something else?

I don't know these rules but…

I always "square up" with melee no matter what rules I play. So I'll put the two units in front to front contact. I generally have the two meet "half way" UNLESS local circumstances dictate otherwise.

For example, if the defender is part of a continuous line I will "conform" the attacker, even shrinking frontage if required.
