Hi all – last attempt to post this it got TMP-bugged and subsumed into another post.

Spanish Light cavalry to give my French Chasseurs something to chase around the flanks.

These are excellent Elite Miniatures Hussars. Or are they?

Beautifully done.

Sorry but you painted them wrong… they should be: blue pelisses, red dolman…

Anyway they look nice!

I wondered how long it would take for someone to notice that. I was halfway through when I realised I had got them around the wrong way. I had a reference picture right in front of me as well.

I certainly didn't know. They look great.

Shrug. Dumb QM ordered too many trumpeter uniforms and not enough line, so swapped them around.

I'd roll with it happily, they look great!

So call them the Luisa Maria Hussars as they are special and you are their ‎Coronel after all,
I like them a lot very chocobox. Wonder if I could do converting to a perry plastic box of hussars to make a unit of these? Lots of greenstuff? What are the major differences?
Again very nice looking unit.

Beautiful paint work! Use em as-is.

dBerczerk01 Jun 2016 5:11 a.m. PST

They sure look nice!

Look great!
Out of curiosity, is there an historical reason why the Prussian figures can so often work as stand-ins for the Spanish? I have heard the same for Spanish dragoons and artillery.

Can you tell the average late Prussian line infantryman or his officer from a Russian (non Kiwer wearing) in monochrome? Same cut to uniform, belt arrangements, coat over shoulder etc…………

I can only imagine your words on realising the colours were reversed……….they look brilliant and few will know. Other thought is hunt out a unit in this scheme from any country! French 4th Hussars?

Glad to see trumpeter not on a grey!

I forgot to say I had the same idea years ago.
Too long without proper Spanish figures to paint! :D

@deadhead and Bill – There are quite a lot of metal options for Spanish infantry in the 1808 uniform so I wouldn't imagine it necessary to proxy Prussians unless you had some available. I think you could get away with it with paint conversions. In 1/72nd I am not sure anyone makes Spanish cavalry so Prussian dragoons are often used instead (Hat do them I think).

@Zargon – And @Quiles shows us how it should be done :) Check his link above. The only real difference is the turban(?) on the mirliton cap – not sure what that looks like on the Perry plastic mirlitons. The Espaņoles regiment had sheepskin shabraques edged in red so the saddlery in the Perry plastic set should be perfect.
