"The British military may soon start stockpiling tanks and other heavy equipment in Eastern Europe as part of NATO's military beef up close to Russia's border. The decision may come at the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw in July. Citing a threat to the Baltic States and Poland, the North-Atlantic alliance plans to deploy as many as 4,000 additional troops in those countries. The initial plan was for the US to provide half, with Germany and the UK shouldering the rest of the cost. However, last week the Wall Street Journal reported that Washington would only provide one 1,000-strong battalion and wanted the European members of the alliance to spend more on their own defense…" Full article here link Maybe… the garage tickets are more cheap there…? There are other benefits…Whilst in the UK and Germany if a tree is damaged in the course of training, a tree's worth of paper is then expended in the ensuring investigation…whereas in training areas in Poland, the only environmental request was to 'limit' the use of persistent nerve agents! |

Hmmmm, sounds like a great target for a Spetznaz raid, and/or a group of Russian tankers trained to use Western kit, and dropped in by parachutes, or helos, to take them over, before the British tankers can get there. What could possibly go wrong with this plan (see sentence directly above)? |

Sheesh. rt.com article. Even this bit of propaganda begins with "The British military MAY soon…" The rest of the article rambles on referencing the WSJ and "the Times" before sinking into typical rhetoric about peace-loving Russia being threatened by NATO… Move along, nothing to see here, just another drive-by propaganda hit piece. |

It won't take much storage space for half a dozen tanks and guns…. That's about all that is available after the last 20 years of cuts to manpower and equipment. |

LOL…. my thoughts exactly TimeCast! How many tanks does the UK have to "stockpile"? :-) |

What it means is we can't afford to transport and store them back in the UK. |

"The British military may soon start stockpiling tanks and other heavy equipment in Eastern Europe…" Aren't they afraid that domestic Russian sympathizers may go to the local army-navy store to purchase the latest Russian military hardware and destroy the vehicles in an attempt to gain autonomy and freedom from oppression?!? |

One micro-nuke and poof, no more pre-deployed armor. Seems this is a danger for the US ones stockpiled in Norway too. Dispersal is the key, but presents its own set of problems. Before someone counters with that's crazy talk, I offer the following: "Is it really"? If these are deployed/stored in a remote area/region, where few casualties might be incurred, would the USA, or other NATO nations risk going to war over the loss of some very expensive, high tech toys? Surely it is better to write those off than have the next strike be on a major city, right? |
