"Is anyone going to Origins game fair next month?" Topic

I'll be at Origins next month on Wednesday and Thursday. Is anyone else planning to go?

First one I'm missing in years….just not the same anymore.

Maybe absence will make the heart grow fonder……

Sorry to hear that. I went last year with my son after having not gone for many years. The convention was very different from the last time I had gone, but we had a good time. My son won 2nd place overall in the costume contest and got free tickets for this year, so it was an easy choice to go again this year.

Going on Saturday, mostly to meet up with a couple of old friends. Was a little let down with the minis last year, hoping this year is better.

I'll be there. I am told the minis situation is not as nice as it used to be, but I found enough to do anyways. First time for the entire family going to Origins… the boy is going to freak out when he sees the place. :)

@ Irishserb. The PEL is online. I looked at the minis events, it's the same events being run by the same people as last year. Also, it is my understanding that the Convention Center is under renovation, so the Show will be split up into several venues…..not just wholly in the Convention Center.

I am a Miniatures gamer. ORIGINS is no longer Miniature game friendly. All said, my wife and I may go down just on Sunday, Fair Pass day. Just to walk around.

@ PzGeneral, I appreciate your link, I had much the same experience last year. There were obviously some great games, but the frequency of dynamic events and overall number were just less than I expected for such a convention. Was amazed at the number of unpainted miniatures on the game tables as well.

Well, I still have my 'I found the Miniatures Gaming at GenCon' button from when it was a long trek to find any miniatures room.

Next few years, they were VERY miniatures friendly. ;->=

Another summer of no big conventions. I miss 'em, even if I keep telling myself it's not the same.

As for free tickets, compared to travel and lodging expenses, entrance fees, and they DID grow, never seemed the issue.

Planning on it. I'll likely be at the Aerodrome table,Wings Of Glory table and/or the FoW table if possible. Thursday- Saturday or Sunday.

Going, though only playing three miniatures games (yes the minis gaming is way down). Rest is a board game or two and then plenty of role playing.

Yup. I'll be there Friday to Sunday. All I'm playing are minis games. 4 games on Friday,3 on Sat. and 1 on Sun. Gonna try to do more filming for my channel this year too.

I will be there for all five days. I won't be doing much miniature gaming, although I will probably try to get into a Full Thrust game if one is to be had.

I will be running an RPG published by a friend of mine on Friday, and getting in some RPGs and boardgames on the other days.

I may go for a day. Like others, I stopped attending years ago because there were fewer and fewer miniatures games.

Can anyone find the 2016 Exhibitor List? I don't see it on the Origins website.

If everyone here that was going ran a miniatures event next year it would probably revitalize the genre. Miniatures gamers rise up and take back your con! Or not. ;)

I'll be in the board room most of the time on Wednesday and Thursday if anyone wants to play a pick up game of Battlestars vs Basestars. I ALMOST registered it as an event, but chickened out fearing a C&D if the wrong person took notice.
