I know these laser cut buildings and accessories are hot hot hot. However, I really don't care for the laser burns along the edges. They are often presented as good-to-go but I find they look like cartoons unless primed and painted.

Further, the dovetail joints apparent on some, may be strong but look like hell.

1) I know the burns can't be helped – it's part of the manufacturing process.
2) I also know I don't have to buy them if I don't want to – thanks dip ship.

Other thoughts? Agree or disagree?

Is this a reaction to something or just venting in general?

I agree with your thesis. However, your presentation comes across as a bit aggressive :-)

Just like teddy bear fur and carpet door mats, they are not perfect adaptations for the tabletop, but are functional and better than chunky or smelly as some of the resins that I have previously used.

They allow for big structures and though sold as ready to go, do seem an ideal template for the modeller to start work with to enhance them and perhaps 'naturalise' them a bit.

My gaming friend has just bought 8 buildings to do a western backdrop for cowboy rules (are they dead Man's Hand?) and they seem absolutely ideal to represent those wooden structures.

I have a few as east front WWII ruins and again, they seem to function well for that setting.

On balance, I feel we are better with them than without, even in their raw state.

Paint does wonders. I like them. Then again I can't see the burnt edges when I'm playing the game.

I think the corners often look good, as a feature. I imagine some buildings wouldn't have such a look on corners, but those that might look good.

Not sure what the problem is, all miniature buildings look wrong if not painted.

I cannot understand why rhe laser cut building manufacturers advertise here on TMP with painted structures and burned edges.

laser cut buildings look awful. I too cannot stand the edges

I gotta agree with ya Flashman. I only have the Rorke's Drift buildings. Un-built as of yet, but when I do, I'm gonna texture the sides & do all I can to improve it. But I gotta say, they are a good starting point for some projects.

I agree 100%

The only period they may work is in Wild West, I was amazed how many companies and how large their stands were at Salute this year
