Second one out of the two Hasslefree Miniatures I ordered to spice up my upcoming SAGA viking warband. I found this model to be painfully difficult to paint due to the sculpting on the skirt and the face in particular. Not super happy about the paintjob as a whole, but it will probably look good alongside 7 other viking miniatures.

A couple more pictures can be seen on my blog

Very nice work. Combined with Ragnar they make a real "power couple!"

I'm sorry but the painting do not do justice to the figures. Very disapointing.

I was under the impression that the social norm here was to bite ones tongue if you feel you can't say anything positive. Am I mistaken?

I like it, everyone paints to different standard and sometimes the figure or subject is far superior than the paintwork. That doesn't mean the subject is not worth the time or effort to paint/build it. I consider myself a average painter I'm no Steve Dean and never will be! But I still enjoy painting miniatures and sharing what I have painted with other like minded people. Everyone is entitled to a opinion sometimes its how the opinion is expressed.

Twilight Samurai :"bite ones tongue if you feel you can't say anything positive" seems a great way to give ones opinion.

Just to make Anatoli happy, here are some pics of my Hasslefree Ragnarr and Floki – and a rather small Rollo and some Bad Squido Shield maidens, painted to my basic wargaming standard – IE look ok at 2 feet!!!

I think that all of us paint at different levels. My skills have deteriorated to a noticeable degree, in my own opinion, over the last few years. My steady hand is not what it was three years ago. If the painter is happy with the result, and he feels it is table ready, more power to him. A nice comment to anyone goes a long way. I said it in a comment a few months back. Peace on Earth and.. Biting your tongue never hurt anyone. I'll get off my soap box now. All of you have a good day. TIG

I agree Tigrifsgt, I paint differently now than even 5 years ago, my eyesight, even with glasses, is less acute, and I really can only be bothered to paint to a standard for playing games with my friends.
We all paint differently, and to different standards, and – as you say- its only got to be ok in the eye of the painter.
Some figures are painted like works of art, which are very nice to look at, I cannot!!!
Be happy!

Interestingly, after looking at my shield maidens on camera, I have just tidied them up a little, and look neater now!!!
