Hi, my gaming pal and I have steadily built up forces for the fall of France, I have French and he has the Germans, we have a selection of troops (we hope to cover most scenarios). So to the question, are there any rules specific to the period or just go for a generic set? thanks jon was thinking of Battlegroup Blitzkreig, however at £30.00 GBP don't want to just take a punt. |

ciaphas: I assume you are intending to play at a skirmish or tactical level-squads, platoons and a few supporting vehicles. No special rule sets are needed. I use Battleground WWII, Chain of Command and Bolt Action form my games. BGWWII is better for armour heavy games and Bolt Action is the weakest for armour heavy games. For higher level games I will let other wiser gamers offer their expertise as I still use the old Firefly and Korps Commander rules for these higher levels. I would be interested to hear what minis you have and what level of games you are planning. I have yet to finish painting my WWII 15mm French but the few games I have played have been very exciting. Cheers and good gaming. Rod Robertson. |

Well I would suggest Battlegroup Blitzkrieg… But I wrote it… so I would. That said if you got any questions or queries before you buy it, let me know and I will endeavour to help. The game runs well from single platoons up to a company. I have a few AARs on The Guild forum and our website has a rules run through. |

Question Piers: Is BG Blitzkrieg stand alone? I was under the impression you need Barbarossa or Kursk for the main rules? |

Mostly you're looking at generic WW2 rules. What makes it early vs. late war are the army lists/stats. Nuts! from 2 Hour Wargames is my go to for skirmish. But I don't think you can run a company and finish in an evening with just 2 players. The Blitzkrieg rules are fun and would be the right speed for what you want I think. |

Dunno if anything is Blitzkrieg specific. For company level skirmishing, I'd grab a copy of I Ain't Been Shot Mum. |

You need the mini rulebook for all the supplements unless you have the original Kursk hardback which also had the rules inside. You can get the PDF of the mini rulebook with the supplement for £27.50 GBP or I think if you email PSC they were doing the actual book mini rulebook and a supplement for £30.00 GBP I personally think each period of the war is very different, both in equipment and the manner of fighting and the behaviour of the troops. We generally have specific period rules that reflect the part of the war the book covers to give the 'feel' of the period so it's not generic and just WW2 with little tanks. A game set in 1940 should feel and play a little different to one in 1945. But just my opinion, YMMV. :) |

id recommend link we use them for all of our 28mm games for SCW and WWII Great rules and can handle lots of figures/vehicles if you are megalomaniacs like us (our Desert game started off as 1 box of Perrys plastics and a couple of vehicles – now we are up to battalion level games !!!!!) MH :-) |

Battlegroup Blitzkreig is my vote, if you want to play skirmish I think Bolt action for skirmish games. I like big games so its Battlegroup for me :) |

Combat patrol is also worth a try, novel system but works well. |
