Tango01 Nice spot. And it looks a very interesting and revealing book. I just hope Amazon UK sort out their webpage because it has a description of a different book attached to it and it is being offered at a variety of prices. I've notified the author about it so hopefully it will be sorted soon. It is certainly on my to-get list. |

I've read it. Nothing new that he hadn't explained in his "Fighting Napoleon". Lafon' is much better analysis. |

Gazzola, The US Amazon has a UK supplier if that helps: link |

138SquadronRAF Thanks for that but like Amazon US, it can be bought via other book sellers through Amazon UK. The price is a little dearer because you have to pay postage. The wrong description is still attached but I'm considering it anyway. |

I have found all of Charles Esdaile's books to be both useful and excellent reads. His work is highly recommended. They are also excellent reference material. |

My copy has just arrive and I'm sure it's going to be much better than "Last Chance of Victory" by Little Scotty Bowden that I'm currently ploughing through. Glad for the OP bringing it to my attention and for the endorsements. |

Brechtel198 and 138SquadronRAF Despite Basileus' (author Antonio Carrasco) negative viewpoint, it is interesting to see the viewpoint of the better known author and historian Jeremy Black who writes- 'Charles Esdaile's account of Napoleonic Andalucía is important not only for what it tells us about the failure of France in Spain but also because it throws great light on the dynamics of Napoleonic rule and on the nature of political culture during an important period of Europe's evolution' The book is based on many Spanish and French Archival Sources, two and a half pages of Primary sources and four pages of Secondary sources. English language sources appear well in the minority. |

I've just started it John. I'll give you my thoughts once I'm done. |

138SquadronRAF I think you will finish it well before me, due to the fact I am reading other titles at the same time as Professor Esdaile's book. It is a habit I obtained while at Uni and I find myself still doing it. Anyway, I will be interested to hear what you say. |
