The best thing about them is that they are either right with a blinding insight to all the clues presented, or just plain stupidly wrong.

Holding on to cherished theories that can be easily demolished by the next book or episode, is kind of line sports betting on pro wrestling.
You can theorize all you want about the next Heavyweight Champion, but it all depends on who Vince MacMahon thinks will draw the most money. Or to please his son in law.
Likewise, investing emotional support and website and blog space to who should next sit on the Iron Throne is silly when it all depends on who George Martin thinks would annoy fans the most. It's easily proven or disproven next Sunday.

I was never in Harry Potter fandom, although I read the books. We're fan theories as much a cottage industry as they are with GoT?
