The process of developing Bladestorm! 2nd edition to full publication has advanced to the next level! Our Man in Germany Sebastian Klapdor, the hard charging creative mind behind rescuing this fine game of fantasy skirmish and mass battle from the mists of time and bringing it fully into the 21st century explains where we are now in the process, and what to look forward to (and soon):

"Good things take time and after two months and lots of work on all ends I am proud and happy to finally reveal 14 new archetype characters complete with professions. Returning to us from the Realm of Arts is Nicoletta Stavarache, who has previously created the cover art of the new BS2E Quick-Start Rules and Rulesbook. Those of you who have downloaded the Quick-Start Rules already know that it depicts a band of heroes in front of a vast mountain range. These characters now celebrate their comeback as some of the archetypes that can be played out-of-the-box in the new edition. Aside from the existing characters, Nika has created 9 more characters that each represent a unique profession to be played."

And here are those characters of which the good Mr. Klapdor speaks, rendered by Nika so ably and well:

Hey You06 May 2016 1:15 p.m. PST

Any big changes from the original? I enjoyed 1st edition and still have it. I drag it out from time to time.

Hey there,

no worries. All changes are expansions to the 1st edition. We want 2nd edition to be backwards compatible. So if there is anything in 1st edition that you like very much, you can bet that this can be played as well with 2nd edition rules.

What's new:
- magic spells for Channling and Essence now have the same number of spells (74 each)

- 74 magic spells for Mentalism have been added

- the concept of heroes and monsters (1 paragraph in 1st edition) was heavily expanded. Now your heroes can have 1 of 14 ready-to-play professions, each have 4 skill trees to learn from.

- Use the included skills to build your own professions

- Get more out of your terrain with new rules for partial cover

- More dynamic fighting with spell users and ranged fighters (not units) now moving up to 1/4th of their movement rate and still making their attack

- a brand new Excel-based calculator that lets you assemble combatants, heroes and units

If you have any questions or would like to take part in play testing drop me a line.

Best,
Sebastian
