My ex-girlfriend brought me this a few years ago. I have not attempted it yet. Perhaps I should! |

I think this is a great model and a highly imaginative topic. Brilliant casting of the harness, swingle trees, C springs etc. It "looks" absolutely right…….for pre 1815 however. I have scratchbuilt it twice in 28mm, ditto the Malmaison extant carriage also captured at Genappe and am now working on an 18mm version of the Berline.
All the evidence is that Boney was nowhere near the carriage after he crossed into Belgium, indeed that is exactly what he said later…….but the contents were certainly impressive! The 1815 coach was dark blue (unusually for Boney. Imperial Green was the expected thing) The wheels were crimson (as was the undercarriage) and the result is much more striking. Six horses, Norman Chestnut it seems for 1815.

No, if you are a total anorak (that does not translate I know) you would argue about tiny details. I am totally obsessional about this topic. But I think this kit is quite remarkably good, incredible value and as good as anything most of us could scratch build. Tiny details I would change, but it is instantly recognisable and a brilliant topic for the company to model. It is not quite 1815 but it would take a very sad person to know that. All I would suggest is the wheels and undercarriage in red/crimson…the difference is incredible….and correct! |

Yeah, but not in 15/18mm scale, so no use for you. Back from Italy today, so hope to be updating soon on progress on that front. Tell me, does anyone do the French ambulance or the Mobile Forge in 15/18mm?????? |

Coming together……. in 1;100 scale with AB figures as drivers. Cab, seat and trunk are still separate obviously. The lamps should be fun in this scale! In 28mm I did the door hinges, door handle etc. In 18mm, not so sure…….

Cheers…thing is 15/18mm is so unforgiving. Seams that I could live with in 28mm, are awful at smaller scale. The seat and the trunk have now been sanded down ++++, since above picture. The next challenge is to spray the whole thing in black without destroying the interior (the secret is to pack the inside with cotton wool of course….but not today….far too good a Sunday lunch. North Yorkshire rain, so we stayed on in the pub until the rain eased off….it is a mile walk back to our house across the Moors……..and…you know how it is…..we stayed back…….I need a snooze now!) Must say again how good is the model from Warlord shown above. Instantly recognisable and "right"……..other than to a button counter. Do not try to make this yourself, not worth it. This is really good for 28mm…almost…almost…….. perfect…..OK six horses ideally…..the beading should not extend onto the……….OH shut up! |
