There has been an amusing discussion about a traffic cone being placed on the head of the statue of Wellington in Glasgow, which has now become a tourist attraction. I wondered if anyone made any miniatures of the Duke in his new hat. I could not find any, but they have produced t-shirts, postcards and mugs displaying him in his new attire. It looks like the cone placing has turned into a nice little earner. Nothing like a little bit of enterprise. Disrespectful yes, but funny and entertaining certainly. link PS: Site also offers some other Welly stuff for those without a sense of humour. |

those without a sense of humour Oh absolutely how could anyone not find the thought of placing a traffic cone on a statue's head absolutely hilarious – and such a novel idea! In fact I'm laughing so much at this imaginative piece of tomfoolery I think I need a medic! In fact I haven't laughed so much since the Dean split his sherry on the Vice Chancellor's carpet – what an adventure to remember that was… Gaz, mate, you need to get out more! |

It's amazing how a couple of pictures of a dwarf Napoleon figure can compel a 1970's student to trawl the internet to get his own back on those who saw said dwarf Napoleon as slightly amusing. I wonder how this 'student' would react if a picture of Napoleon with a cone on his head looking down on the quadrangle of les Invalides was posted for his perusal. I bet the poor chap would get a fit of the vapours and embark life-long quest to get even. Think, Vincent Price in the Theatre of Blood. Paul :D |

Navy Fower Wun Seven It is amusing but not that funny. Anyway, I get out as much as I want thanks. Mind you, I am thinking of taking a trip to Glasgow in the not too distant future, with a camera of course. LOL |

dibble 1970's student? And who would that be? Tango's hilarious topic about the Wellington statue wearing a traffic cone led me to want to know more and it was then, to my surprise, that I discovered it was a big tourist attraction in Glasgow and had been for some time. The image can even be found in tourist guides. Fame at last for Welly, eh? I then wondered if anyone produced a miniature based on the unusual tourist attraction. Results so far have been negative, but as the link provided above displayed, there are t-shirts, mugs and postcards. They don't interest me but it does show that the cone placing appears to have been profitable for some. LOL Concerning the Dwarf Napoleon miniature, as I said in that topic, I found it amusing, but since I consider it did not look remotely like Napoleon, apart from the hat and hand pose, I would not be interested in buying one. If traffic cones had been placed on the head of a statue of Napoleon I would, as with the Wellington statue, consider it disrespectful, but equally as amusing. If people can't laugh about these things, they need to take a long look at themselves and get a life. |

If people can't laugh about these things, they need to take a long look at themselves and get a life. Yep! You'd better start today. Paul :) |

1970's student? And who would that be? Why anyone who has been through university and educated by people who had been indoctinated from that era and had been spat out the end with a self loathing of ones nation. Paul :) |

dibble I made the post about the Wellington conehead t-shirts etc, and in reply, your post basically tried to make out I was a 1970's student. How wrong you were-again! Now you are trying to wriggle out of your silly incorrect post by trying to claim you meant those who had educated me or anyone else. I think your latest feeble post proves the topic has really got to you. Go on, admit it. I guess you just can't take it and would never see the funny side, unless of course, Napoleon was the target. But I am so glad my post has made you make such revealing and comical posts. Do keep making them. We can all do with more laughter and you are certainly creating it. But do try to stop seeing the worse in people. It is not healthy and you always get it wrong. Highlighting atrocities and bad events and activities done by the British during the Napoleonic Wars and posting about a statue of Wellington wearing a traffic cone, does not mean I loathe my country. You might want to think that, in order not to questions your own viewpoints, but as usual, you are totally wrong. Never mind, one day you will get something right…on day. Anyway, I've showed the topic around and there is some strong interest in the Wellington wearing a traffic cone t-shirts. So there we go, every cloud has a silver lining. Cheer up. |

I think the topic can be best summed as 'You can take away our freedom but you will never take our traffic conesssssssssssssss! |
