This is my attempt at making a wargames model to act as the Chew House at Germantown. The real thing looks like this:

I started with a basic kit from Warbases (VBCW Police House):

And by re-purposing the mdf parts of the outbuilding that comes as part of the kit (to build chimneys, a lean-to on one side and to reduce the size of the windows), adding extra features with foamcore (dorma windows), thin card (tiles etc)and fly swatters (for extra window pieces), I think the final result is just about what I wanted. It is a smaller house than the actual one, but at this scale I think this is more manageable for anything other than a skirmish game, but stays in the spirit of the original.

To disguise the inherent "mdf"ness of the model I used air-dry clay, inspired by WSS #84 and agressive employment of a Dremel…

The roof is removable as is the internal floor, so the model can be garrisoned with troops.

Beautiful job. My Chew House is a solid resin block, with no remove able roof.
Trade? grin

Kind offer, Winston, but I think I'll stick with mine :)

That's awesome!

That is a great conversion to the point where it looks nothing like the original. You did a tremendous job. I live pretty close to Germantown and I will extend the offer you can bring it over to game with our group. I'm sure they would enjoy it. Nice work.

Rogues1, a very kind offer but as I'm in the UK it probably won't happen!
