Wondering if there are many users of Hexographer here? I'm playing with the free version, and the one feature which really grabbed my attention, is the ability to import PNG images of my hand-drawn maps, allowing me to create computerized, hex versions, of my old maps.

I bought Fractal Mapper Version 8.0, a few years ago, but I've never learned how to re-create my hand-drawn maps on it. It just won't follow the major lines I try to draw, to match my original maps. The learning curve is much steeper, as well, compared to Hexographer.

Just wondering what others think of it. The basic program is free, and there is even a Windows 7 version, which works offline. I suspect I will shell out the cost of the Pro version soon. Cheers!

I've got Hexographer and Fractal Mapper. I use them both for different games/purposes. Hexographer is definitely easier to use, and perfect if you are looking for that classic TSR-style map.

Another vote for Other Worlds mapper. I was a kickstarter backer and it's really easy to use and creates nice maps.

Other Worlds mapper is interesting, but it is still in Beta release, for $60. USD I'll keep an eye on it to see when it is fully developed, and what they want for the finished product. Cheers!

Used for Hexographer for years, love it. Used it for RPGs, Wargames, you name it. Definitely worth the price for the 'Pro' version.

Vote for Hexographer: Super easy to use, but classic icons are from 1970s (has icon packs). So, if you like SPI maps, this is it. Has a sci-fi function as well. $31 USD the last time I bought one (makes great gifts for hard-to-buy gamers).

I just found out that Hexographer's sequel, Worldographer (i.e. Hexographer 2) is on Kickstarter. Much cooler graphics, will include icon set. Also will have a hex in a hex function, whereby one hex at the 'World Scale' can be drilled into to get lots of hexes at 'Continent' Scale, which can be drilled into for lots of hexes at 'Kingdom scale' (and changes made to one will be reflected up and down the chain, so the pitch says).

Joe, the coder, always got back to me quickly when I had a question. Met him at GenCon a couple times, so there's a solid track record behind the code.

And Worldographer is backed. Thanks for the tip off Russ!
