Today I look at the Plastic Soldier Company's Shermans and Stuart link |

Great review of those PSC tanks. I have other PSC tanks, but not the Shermans or Stuarts, so it was fun to read your review of the models I do not own. |

In Ap. 2016 I purchased one platoon-box set each of the Late War Sherman M4A3 and the Ger. Pz.IV. When I opened the ger. box to my DELIGHT, there were also 5 pairs of sprues containing 10 One Piece track assembly's. As they were seperate in the box and not part of the main sprues, its clear they were part of a later 'upgrade'. I went to their website and found they had the same 'upgrade' for the Soviet T34s. However the the Shermans did Not have the track upgrades. Just as with the german set, the tracks were in 4 pieces: an upper & lower track, one front and one rear, drive and sproket 'wheel', all part of the main sprues and had to be put together. Now in my 50's, the hand/eyes are not as steady, as a result lining up the upper/lower tracks were somewhat difficult. As I got these from Ebay, Im 'really' hoping they were an earlier run of the Shermans and that newer sets, like the Ger. & Soviets will have one piece molded track sections, as my intention is to build a company of 15 of each force. Other than just simply faster / easier, the finished look of the one piece sections are by FAR better than having to piece them together. |

I think the single piece tracks are only in th1 15mm kits, sadly I don't think it's come to the 1/72 range. |

Pretty sure he's talking about the 15mm – to my great disappointment, PSC don't do the M4A3 in 1/72 :( |

*Greebs, You are so right. Im working on and my intention is to 'eventually' run WL Games BA Tank War in 15mm. IMHO, that game was 'built' for 15mm. *Volley Fire Andy I HOPE your right and soon, if not already, more if not most of PSC's 15mm armor sets have been 'issued' the one piece track upgrades. Not to be critical, but I dont know why someone didnt think of that from the start. BTW.. I wrote them, well about mid 2016 IIRC, and asked about 'tank destroyers' to their line. I was happy to get a reply they intend to do that very thing "..begining next year (2017)". However it may be of little comfort to many, I was asking specifically about 15mm, and not in general future plans. It would appear, by and large that 15mm – 1/100 scale is or has become 'the' gaming scale. Best of luck guys. |

20mm is far from over – it's just the scale for the salty old gamers who grew up with Airfix kits, and their younger apprentices (or basically anyone who has ever browsed the AB figures range ¬.¬). Just because no mainstream game and figure manufacturers have jumped on it, doesn't mean it's going away. Will over at PSC is a 20mm gamer himself, or so I hear, and both scales apparently pay for themselves. Where there are obvious holes in the range in one scale, but not the other, it's often the case that there is simply less chance of that mould and tooling earning it's keep rather than any favoritism. To use the M4A3 as an example – well, for a start, a lot of gamers couldn't give a toss what mark their Sherman is – and PSC already make the most distinctive two of the four. Also, Armourfast and Italeri got to the 'wargame kit' of that version first. One has all closed hatches, the other has no turret bottom, and both have awful tracks, all of which I could expect PSC to top… but those kits have been around for years. People who want late-model US Shermans have already bought them. Also a few years back now, apparently the market was flooded with cut-price Easymodel and Dragon Armour Sherman pre-paints, further cutting into potential sales. |

The 20mm world is full of M4A3 models, but PSC could do the M4A2 with Pacific, French, Russian and British options. |
