What factors are important when selecting your next fantasy army? |

That it be compatible with my 1970s/1980s figures for Dwarf/Goblin figures. Gnomes are a minor secondary/allied/subjugated by the Dwarves army, Elves are small hunted outcasts in war bands at most, There are no Humans. War between there Goblin Republic and the Dwarf Empire is continuous. |

I'm interested in the beliefs of my historical lead warriors. My ancient Greeks didn't believe in goblins, but they did believe in centaurs and fauns. My Vikings do get trolls. I was interested in the recent discovery of early dynastic era demons which I could use with my ancient Egyptians (should anybody ever make them). Grelber |

The figures must have a "cool" factor. |

Arms and armour need to be believable. They have to fit into the images in my head from reading Tolkien. |

Not that into fantasy but the Perry sculpted lotr stuff fits well. Most figures have realistic enough armor and weapons. And orcs don't look cartoony |

"Cool" here as well. Prefer believable armor, don't like grotesquerie. But all must be 10mm! |

I need to enjoy painting the figures. They must also be fun to play. |

Whatever the army, it has to have options for female figures. |

I'm with Atomic Floozy. Any fantasy army has to have hot Taraakian female warriors. |

I am a fan of the old GW stuff and have just finished a chaos army made up of old, new and the superb Eureka stuff. In addition ,I am busy working through hundreds of the LOTR range which are superb, Tally Ho! |

I thought that was a given. |

Fast cavalry, strong infantry. Same as I would want for most historical armies. Dragons are nice too :) Chalfant |

completeness must be combined arms |

The most important part of a fantasy army be that ot allow me to use what *I* want to represent the troops involved. Frostgrave is good for this. Hordes of the Things is good for this. I have been led to understand Kings of War is good for this. |

I'm afraid that only my Amazon army has female figures:^) On the other hand, it's my largest fantasy army! |

Unfortunately, for Tekumel gaming, one is restricted to no cavalry*. No Elves, Dwarves, or Orcs, either. So cool aliens to take their places though: Shen, Ahoggya, Pachi Lei, Pe Choi, and Hlaka, for example. * unless one introduces them, of course. I liked the Parroom Station cavalry but no longer available, I fear. :-( |

Definitely personality, mutual attraction, and sense of humor. Looks are important, but not the most important factor. Wait.. what kind of "fantasy" are we talking about? |
Herkybird | 06 May 2016 1:23 p.m. PST |
Not Gothic, or overblown, or with oversized bodies and weapons. As has been said above, it should fit with my idea from reading Tolkein. |
