"ISIS fighters smashed a force of Italian and British Special Ops troops on Wednesday, April 27 in the first battle of its kind in Libya, DEBKAfile's military and intelligence sources report. This battle will result in the delay of the planned Western invasion of Libya, as the encounter proved that European forces are not ready for this kind of guerilla warfare. The sources also said the planners of the invasion were surprised by the high combat skills of the ISIS fighters. Our sources report the following details: The convoy of Italian marines, British special forces and Libyan troops was traveling from the northwestern city of Misrata toward the ISIS stronghold of Sirte, located 273 kilometers to the southeast, when it was ambushed and hit hard by ISIS forces…" See here link Amicalement Armand |

Debkafile has a history of reporting exclusive stories – mainly because they never happened! Just like this one. |

According to the information from debkafile's sources, vehicles packed with explosives drove up alongside the convoy transporting the Italian and British troops and blew themselves up. Color me skeptical. It became clear long ago that any vehicles trying to drive "up alongside" military vehicles were a threat and active measures would be taken to prevent that from happening. Especially if it were more than one vehicle. I'm with Emperor's Library on this one. |

Well that was as bad as the debkafile report! Britain does not have "hundreds of SAS and SBS troops" and the RAF itself reports under 1000 IS deaths NOT 25000! |

This is the journalistic equivalence of: "I spoke to a mate if mine down the Kings Arms the other day and he said a bloke he knows met a bloke in the paras who told him that blah blah blah…" "Debkafiles's military and intelligence souces…" Yeah right… "The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'"- Ben Goldacre (from his excellent book 'Bad Science: required reading, IMHO) John T |

Britain does not have "hundreds of SAS and SBS troops" Sure they do. There are 3 regiments of SAS, each composed of 260 men while the SBS has over 200. |

So it appears … this obviously is more fiction than fact … Nothing really surprising based on the state of the modern media, generally. |
