Thinking of this scale (over 6mm…bought some and they look SO SMALL on my table).

I know nothing of this scale (other than it's the right size for detail and small enough for a decent size battle) so who makes the nicer looking models/kits?

PSC look nice….are there resin/metal kits that have nice detail?

I've seen a few Battlefront mini's but they are pretty pricey and from my untrained eye, they don't look all that nice.

Appreciate any help

I own a bit of everything. Some random thoughts:

Old Glory/Command Decision is cheap and some packs are great, others are fairly rudimentary.
Good for bulking out forces.

Peter Pig looks fantastic and are very animated. They do have the Jay Leno faces though.
They do a lot of odd little packs that others don't do either.

QRF I only have modern figures but if the ww2 figures are anything to judge by, they're good. When I get to rebuilding my forces, I'll likely use them. Nice "baseline" figures.

Battlefront I personally like. They do have a sort of chunky comic-book look to them, but that does help them stand out nicely on the table.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One man's gems are another man's crap.

Before you jump in, take a look at 10mm. I've seen more than a few 15mm players say that if they were starting now, that's the way they would go.

captaincold6927 Apr 2016 8:11 a.m. PST

I've looked at some of the 10mm stuff and I'm not seeing as much detail as I do in the 15mm.

I know 10mm is cheaper, but to be honest, I'm buying for two reasons….display and gaming (but, more for gaming)

Other than Pithead (most look pretty nice) I haven't seen much in that scale

search TMP and google for several posts/blogs comparing similar models from the various 15mm manufacturers.

I switched from 6mm (too small for my old eyes) and 15mm (too big for mass battles) to 10 mm. The detail is comparable to 15 mm, better in some models. Pendraken is expanding their Cold War line every month. You can also buy pre-painted plastic models of the more popular vehicles. 3d printing is taking off with some very good models. TMP's Aotrs Commander makes some great vehicles that aren't available anywhere in 15 mm.

Battlefront for infantry and guns, PSC for vehicles.

I also have a mish-mash of 15mm stuff – Peter Pig, QRF, Irregular, PSC, Skytrex, BF, FiB, Zvezda and even some old SDD things.

PSC vehicles are little gems, and increasingly I buy their infantry, heavy weapons and guns.

Of the metal infantry, Peter Pig are my favourites, and many of their vehicles are also beautiful. QRF does lots of stuff other people don't do.

BF is a last resort. Expensive, bloated dwarves and very variable (and very expensive) vehicles. Huge amounts are however available second hand at reasonable prices.

Most of the stuff I've bought in the last two years has been Zvezda and PSC. I like sticking plastic kits together.

And the Zvezda T35 is a thing of beauty.

Mine are PSC and Zvezda vehicles with PPig, Skytrex and PSC infantry, all for Barbarossa.

PSC…

captaincold6927 Apr 2016 11:20 a.m. PST

are the 15mm plastic kits easy to paint with a brush AND are you able to get good results?

I'm not into getting an airbrush and my only mini painting experience is 1/300 aerial

redbanner414527 Apr 2016 1:36 p.m. PST

I do PSC & Zvezda vehicles with brush. No problem.

Weasel27 Apr 2016 6:25 p.m. PST

You can brush just fine though I find a spray paint is easier.

With a lot of ww2 stuff, buy a spray base coat that is close to the same colour you'd paint them anyways.

Martin Rapier27 Apr 2016 11:10 p.m. PST

The only spray I use on my 15mm stuff is the undercoat.

Just slap that paint on.

Are the results good? Who knows, that is a very hard question to answer. I'm happy enough with them.

GeoffQRF28 Apr 2016 2:38 a.m. PST

QRF does lots of stuff other people don't do.

We do a lot of stuff that other people do, as well as a lot of stuff that other people don't…

I carry a hodge pod get of many companies. A number have been mentioned here.
Currently, I have in stock Quality casting which is Battlehonors-old glory15, forged in Battle which are very nice, PSC, command decision, legions east by Quartermaster, and zvesda.
