Was looking for a way to fix my magnetized planes on the stands when I went for small bolts. Playing around, I figured out one could also use the washers as altitude dials:

Another way is to put a screw up through the base and use that as the stand. |

I use the 3mm magnets from Dom stuck to the plane. I found that you could also make a really good flexible mount allowing pitch and roll by adding a bigger magnet on top of the base and a M3 hex nut between that and the magnet on the plane. I got the 'big' magnet by cutting it out from the end of a stix from a set of magnetic stix+balls my kids had, eg: link I've even mounted Scotia 1/300th B-17s nose down or in a bank with out them moving. |

use an acorn nut on top with the dome and then you can show banking. |

hello, thanks for the comments. I was looking for very simple base with the possibility to incorporate a practical dial for very cheap. That was the main point for me actually. |

Haven't seen washers used as altitude dials before, that looks quite practical. |
