To mark Anzac Day, 'Wargames Illustrated' has kindly agreed to make available two articles describing the amazing story of last year's massive WW1 Battle of Chunuk Bair diorama project for 'The Great War Exhibition' in Wellington, New Zealand.

A PDF containing the two articles in full can be downloaded from the project's official Mustering The Troops blog.

'Wargaming's Stunning Achievement: The Chunuk Bair Diorama' describes how the project was conceived by movie director Sir Peter Jackson, and how the wargaming community throughout New Zealand joined together to paint thousands of figures within a very tight schedule.

'The Perry Perspective' was written by Michael Perry, one of the British sculptors engaged to produce the figures for the diorama. He provides his fascinating insight into how this unique project came together, and the adventures they had in New Zealand to get everything done in time.

The two articles first appeared in WI334 (August 2015).

That was good of WI. I finally get to see the article as I have not seen a WI in the shops in Wellington since the Wargame shop shut down a few years back.

And yes I really did paint the Brigadier Johnston figure down at the beach while freedom camping. Was sat under a pretty good streetlight at the time :) Finished him at Maccas the next morning when I was having breakfast.
